It completely smooth on top, while the Xbox is not, and will collect dust because of the surface they went for. Plus from what I saw from the Xbox One it just looked like cheap plastic on the surface.
And yes it's slanted, which has never been done before to the best of my recollection.

Would definitely like to see it beside the Xbox One to get a bit of a size comparison. PS4 appears to be smaller from my questionable vision.

My personal opinion:
1.) It's thinner.
2.) It doesn't have those ugly slanted vents that make it look like something from the 80's.
3.) You can stand it up vertically
4.) I dig how they broke up the box with the middle grooves.

PS4 is better; 360 just looks like one giant cluster####, and they couldn't decide on which vision to go with. There is seemingly four different sections to the one console.

Xbox One looks pretty good all of a sudden next to that black box or whatever the PS4 is supposed to be. Honestly anyone that thinks the PS4 looks better has to be bordering fanboy. It's uglier than the PS2 however it's the games that count.

The XBOX One has the half perforated top which looked ugly as hell with the other half. The PS4 is unoriginal, but it still looks much better.

I honestly can't see how you can say the Xbox One is better looking with a straight face. But then, I guess some people think mullets and jean jackets look good, so who am I to account for taste.

Seriously? I'm an Apple guy and have no interest in either Microsoft or Sony but the PS4 is flat out dumb looking. Not sure what they were getting at with the eraser shape. The Xbox One looks like a hopped up AV device which isn't terribly exciting but the PS4 looks just odd.
