I think it's naive to suggest Iginla is no longer a 30 goal guy...surely it's possible for him to regain that form.
I'm wondering if he fills a need in OTT... If he plays with Spezza, that could be fun to watch.

This thread is full of so much bs and hyperbole. Iggy is not a hero for his current play, but he's certainly no loser or hack.

For some reason I just keep thinking LA. To see what Daryll did with Reggie, I think Iggy will end up there, and it will be sadly the end of both the GM and Coach in 2 years or the last year of Iggy's contract.
Ron Hextall will become the GM around December/January 2015/2016 and have too many 30 year olds all making plus $6MM/year. History will repeat itself.

Iginla is on borrowed time as it stands ..... He turns 36 in a month.
Forwards that play at a high level, especially power forwards at that age are very rare.
Owen Nolan was 36 when he was a Flame 16 goals and 32 pts.
Bertuzzi as a 36 year old 16 goals 45 pts

I think with Iggy, you can give him the benefit of a doubt. Other then this shortened lockout season, we all know of his consistent 30+ goals he can score. I have no doubt that if this was a regular length season, he would have eventually hit his hot streak and gotten 30.
Until he proves otherwise, he is always a lock for 30. Also, those 2 players you named are nowhere close to being as consistent goal scorers as Iginla.

Can anyone else see him in Philly? They got a good young team, had an off season (or no off season depending how you read that) but should rebound next year. Play a strong offensive game with more of a physical edge than Pittsburgh..

Tkachuk was no longer a 30 goal scorer at age 34/35
Shanahan was no longer a 30 goal scorer at age 34/35 (his last season in Detroit being the exception)
Guerin's last 30 goal season was at age 36
Messier's last 30 goal season was at age 36
Iginla isn't really a power forward anymore, but he has slowed down a lot in the past two years. We might see another 30 goal season out of him depending on what team he plays, but I think the struggles we saw this year are a good indication of where his career is heading. His days of being a consistent 30 goal threat are over, and expectedly so considering his age

Unless Philly plans on paying him with non-perishable items donated by fans, he won't be going there. They have a bit of a cap issue and if they are going to spend money it will be to boost their defensive game. But the only way they can spend money is by first buying out a contract or trading away some salary.

On the Fan this morning, Friedman said outside of the usual teams Iggy might sign with, Phoenix might be a darkhorse pick.

Hard to imagine given some of the thinly veiled comments Playfair has made regarding the Flames leadership group when he was a coach here. Jarome doesn't exactly play the Phoenix style of game either. Just seems like an awkward fit.

perhaps Dallas? Tom Gaglardi owns the Stars. He is also a co-owner of the Kamloops Blazers, along with Iginla

Mark Recchi is also a co-owner of the Blazers, and is currently an adviser with the Stars

Dallas wouldn't surprise me. Neither would Toronto or Ottawa if they offer him enough.

Good story to be had if Iginla went back to the team that drafted him.

My guess, Iginla signs with the Kings in the offseason.

Ok, now guess how in the world given the amount of players they need to sign and their cap space they pull that off?

I for one would welcome Iginla back on the Flames. Not as team captain maybe but as a 1 year NTC player whom we all expect to be rented out again come trade deadline.
Flames get a little more return for him, and Jarome gets more time to choose who he can win with.

One thing I'd like to point out, while yes until this year Iginla managed to hit that 30 goal milestone, the last few years he did it at the expense of an all around game and thus became significantly less valuable as a player overall.
The last year he posted a positive plus minus rating was 2007-2008. As much as it's a bit of a lucky stat at times, the dominant players in the league are on the right side of it. It's no coincidence that in the last 3 injury shortened seasons Crosby is +61 in only 99 games. To be a dominant player in the league you need to outscore your opposition when you're on the ice, it's been 5 seasons since Iginla has been that player. Yes he's still been able to put up some respectable numbers, but so have a few of the players on the Oilers the last few years and just like the Flames it's gotten them absolutely no where.
I think the last few seasons Iginla has been living off his legacy where he was a dominant player in the league. The stat line was still decent but the team was going no where with him as their leader/star.
I think there is a very good chance this next season will be Iginlas last.

This was the point I was attempting to make... We'll see what this season brings...sometimes the way people project with such certainty around here is very annoying.
We'll see if Iginla is finished or not... He will be soon, for sure, but hopefully he's got a couple strong seasons left... I'm rooting for 30 g next year for sure.. I won't be placing any bets though.
