I think Mac T missed some of his effective leadership courses while taking his MBA, or has simply watched too much of the Office (either NA or British version).

Skype, you couldn't script it better if you tried.

Cept Playfair of course. Krueger got Playfaired.

Wonder what this does for the superstar kids. It's gotta be getting into their head that they aren't accountable for anything by now.

This team will not be the new Pens, or Boston, or Kings. They are going to be the new Isles. Well the Isles of the 20 years previous of this one.
Looking forward to Krueger hulking out in the AHL

Could have sworn Iggy's last 40 goal season came under Brent Sutter and Jokinen's numbers under a new coach took a large nosedive from his last season under Brent. Parise's career season was under Brent as well. Sedins are on the downturn already so it's not out of the question they actually have a good season under Brent.

.
how else are you supposed to fire a head coach who lives halfway around the world in a matter of hours?

At least pay for a long distance phone call rather than cheaping out on Skype?

Skype. That's how every big business conducts high profile firings.....oh wait....no big business conducts itself this way except the Oilers although they could be pioneering a new trend. Coaches in the future will now fear the dreaded Skype request and the phrase '"got his pink slip" will be replaced with "got Skyped".

could be the future...probably has happened before...because it's new, means it's automatically shunned

again, you think lobbing him a phone call is better?

You didn't answer the question.

I still have yet to see anyone propose a better solution, given Krueger was on the other side of the world and this needed to be done with a certain amount of expediency

The miracle of human flight. It's not like they couldn't hire Eakins and hold off a couple days to make the announcement.

Krueger has an Edmonton cell phone. So MacT could have called him on that without paying any long distance charges and instead stuck Krueger with the roaming bill.

Geez its too bad that the fax machine still isn't around

I don't buy that MacTavish was looking for an associate coach, I believe he was looking for another head coach all along, but he held onto Krueger because he was afraid that nobody else would want to coach that trainwreck.

Instead of holding on for weeks until Kreuger was in Europe, maybe he should have taken the honest leap and fired Kreuger at seasons end so the guy could start his own job search.

I'm sure that Mac-T's philospophy didn't change during the interviews, he had the type of coach that he wanted from day one of the process.

Instead he held onto Krueger until half way into the summer while coaching vacancies and interview slots were filling both in NA and abroad.

And a NHL coach is a senior executive, and you rarely see senior executives fired via a phone call.

Call him or don't let it get to the point where such urgency is needed?

so waste thousands of dollars and hours flying over to Switzerland for a 5 minute conversation...a complete waste of time and money when MacT has to still finalize a contract with a new head coach and get ready for scout meetings, etc...

unlike Tambo, MacT doesn't waste time humming and hawing when firing/hiring guys (like Tambo did with Renny/Krueger)
