Good question - I've wondered the same thing. I'll look into it.

There's a lot of these weird things with the roads department I find.

For example, choosing to do street cleaning in a neighborhood where extensive sidewalk replacement is ongoing. So, every single stretch of road available to park on has street cleaning - no parking signs from 7am-5pm, and the places where they havn't put those signs have no parking cones put up by the sidewalk replacement contractor. There is literally no available street parking in an approximately 8 block radius around my house for the next two day from 7am onward (I don't leave for work at 7am, so not sure where my car should go).

The sidewalk people aren't even close to done either, and are making a pretty decent mess, so I can only imagine that the street cleaning will need to be redone anyway. You'd think it isn't rocket science to delay cleaning until the construction work is done.

If I knew how to distill it I would. Sorry about that.

9th and 12th Avenues are scraped now - as well as Macleod Trail. I believe they usually do the surface overlays within a couple of weeks anyway - haven't myself seen it in that state much longer than that. Any particular road you're thinking of?

I have no idea if this has been asked or not, and I can't find the info on the city website:

I have 2 questions:

1. What is the projected date of the ring road being connected and finished up to 22x?

2. What's the deal with Deerfoot over Glenmore? Is this getting widened?

Please provide links and whatever information you have.

On a side note: thanks for answering all questions Bunk, and providing links whenever you can. Although I don't support your boss, I am impressed that you've been able to keep up with this thread and represent him properly. It's nice to know that you can get the information we ask for, on a timely basis.

When will the ridiculous amount of potholes get fixed? The city should be liable for any damages to my car.

When will 162nd at MacLeod get fixed? 15 minutes to get through an intersection every morning is too long.

Have city planners considered the extra traffic volume on the 22x MacLeod overpass once stoney is complete. The backups at the westbound lights is getting bad.

I assume you're asking about the SW connection.

I had a chance to ask Nenshi this question personally at an event he was attending earler this year. His answer was: "by 2017 for sure, based on where things are."

Minister McIver was not so sure, when I asked him the same question, unfortunately.

I just googled it and a news story says it's on schedule and budget for October finish. From 17th ave to 22x that is. This will be great for people wanting to visit friends and family on opposite ends of the city (Royal Oak to Auburn Bay for instance)

Getting on Macleod trail via 162nd ave or James McKevitt Rd is going to be a nightmare once the additional 1700 new homes get built in Shawnee. I'm in Evergreen Estates and this new development will effect all the other adjacent communities. Not a happy camper.

You really just need to build the SW portion of the Ring Road and it alleviates a lot of the congestion at 162nd and McLeod. Even just finishing the connection at 162nd and 37th st to allow easy access to Anderson and 14th would help.

They also need to fix the logic at the train crossing to function intelligently instead of doing a full advanced left cycle after every train crossing.

Also they need to realign the which lanes turn North bound onto Mcleod. Instead of having a dedicated right turn lane on 162nd to south bound Mcleod they need to have the left lane be forced to turn NB onto Mcleod, the center lane having the option to turn left of go straight and the right lane have the option to go straight or turn right.

Also during rush hour they should not allow traffic on Shawville bvld to turn left or go straight through 162nd. Force all the traffic back to Shawville way if you want to make a left turn.

These things would fix a lot of the issues at that intersection.

No, I meant the SE part. The Indians will drag this out for another 50 years. The SW part of the ring road won't be done in my lifetime.

How come the HOV lane down the Centre Street bridge isn't enforced? Has it ever been? Will it ever be?

Now that the indians have built an addition onto the casino, the city should bulldoze the connector to 37th street and leave a contract pinned to their gate - Time to play hardball.

This stuff might help, but I'm not totally sure about some of what you say here actually, so I don't know if I agree. Realistically though we need an overpass at 162 and MacLeod. Not much else will make that better completely, and I doubt the cash is there at this point, let alone the political will.

The other fix is one where the ship has sailed; connecting 14th street over Fish Creek and into Evergreen (I think it would lineup to Evergreen Street, but I'm not sure). That likely won't happen, but clearly should. The deep south has no way out other than MacLeod. Thankfully the closing of the left hand turn lanes at Lake Fraser Gate has helped, but even getting that done was like pulling teeth!
