I wonder how much buzz there would be about Eakins being "NHL-Ready" from the media if he coached in a different organization the last few years.

He worked for the Leafs and didn't screw anything up too badly. That makes him damn near a god to the media.

On the radio yesterday, they were saying that in a short season, there will be one team who surprises everyone by missing the playoffs, and one team who surprises everyone by making the playoffs.

I'm going to pick the Wings as the team who misses for the first time in John Tavares' lifetime; and the Leafs as the team who makes it for the first time in the lifetime of some kid who was conceived on the Red Mile.

Man, if Minnesota and Columbus had finished just two points higher, I would have been 3/3.

Certainly far from a sure thing as an NHL coach but does seem to have the background to suggest he should be a good coach and especially in working with young guys.
 |
Pretty good analysis. It's not a sure thing but he has done a great job with the Marlies, is very well respected and has been a part of the game for decades. There has been improvement in individual players as well as the team since he started.

Calgary changes coaches a lot because the coaches they hire are awful.

I think the Oilers finally did something right here.

			fix the mistake MacT
Hire Brent Sutter as you should have done last year. you missed out on Mckinnon or Jones. Inexcusable when you are trying to build something special

1st overall pick 4 out of 5 years will be next! what a joke of a Franchise. Bettman should fold them before they embarass the NHL anymore.

So is this MacT's first move as gm? Not a bad move, he will probably screw up the press conference though.

No. He signed KHL defenseman Belov (was after Raanta as well who picked Chicago).
