Off season training and fitness is not and has never been an issue for Iggy who usually shows up in camp and places at or near the top of the fitness rankings.

The issue is Iginla completely changing his game and his body type. something that he won't be able to change, its near impossible for him to go back to that powerforward type of player.

His issue is that the guy is freakin 36, unlike the players in the EA sports games, in real life you do slow down and get weaker no matter what you do in the offseason.

Iginla will, no question. Someone will pay more for him based on reputation alone, and look past his performance in the playoffs. The cap being lowered could effect his contract, but I still see him getting 5+ per year.

Bicksell will probably end up between 3-4, maybe even 2.5 if he wants to stay in Chicago.

Malkin, Crosby and Lrtamg were all garbage in the Bruins series but doubt teams wouldn't line up around the block, Chicago La Boston included, for a chance to get them.

Iginla has been playing like this for a couple of years and the question mark was whether he can or can not return to his beast mode with elite linemates (particularly that bloody #1 center) and when he has a real chance to win the Cup. There was also a big question on whether Iginla will or will net change his game when he's no longer The Man on the team.

Guys like Neal and Letang play in playoffs every year and everyone knows what to expect from them. For Iginla it was his first playoffs in 4 years and first playoffs on an elite team in his life.

I was kind of joking when I asked this. I know Iginla will still get a pretty nice contract. It's just that someone will likely overpay for Bickell.

Tied for 10th/10th not really a huge deal. Even being top 15 is pretty darn good.

I don't think there should have been any question whether he could return to beast at this age the answer was always going to be no. What he did show is he can still be a very good secondary piece on a contending team whether that is on the first or second line.

As for Neal going the play-offs every year. He has been 3 times in 6 years so not really every year and he has had one good year and two bad years so I guess you are right people do know what they will get from him.

That'd be my hunch, too. The Pens probably will run into cap issues. The Bruins and Blackhawks (if they advance) will both have Stanley Cup hangover from playing deeper into June than normal with less recovery time before camp. King will be more rested, unless they go on a sudden tear.

so how about Dupuis..... had a better playoffs than Iginla and a much better regular season.

Dupuis is the same size as Iginla and a year younger and significantly faster.

Over the last 2 regular seasons Iginla has 46 goals 100 pts in 126 games and Dupuis 45 goals 97 points in 130 games.


Is there any team that is going to make Dupuis one of their top 3-4 paid palyers? If not Dupuis why Iginla?

As much as I want to see him get a cup, its gonna be tough for Iginla to demand both money and a rosterar old spot on a contending team. Another year older, on what seemed like a real decline year for Iginla... he used to play like a bull, but he looks below average physically right now; he used to play best when his feet were moving and he was using his speed, but he seems to have lost that advantage; even his shot doesn't look as deadly any more. Meanwhile, he does have warts in his game. Really, all those years of carrying the Flames on his back took a toll on his body, and while he could get away with deficiencies in his game before, they are now being exploited. I'm not sure he fits in for teams around the league now, especially ones who want to resign younger guy who already fill that role and better.

My guess is he stays in Pittsburg and Pittsburg gives him a 2nd shot at a basement bargain salary. 2nd guess in SJ...o/w I'm not sure a contender has room for Iginla on their roster and salary cap.

It's free agency, so 100% sure dupuis gets top 3/4 money somewhere.

Dupuis produced alongside Crosby. Iginla did slightly better with substantially less. Not arguing for iginla to get paid, just pointing out the comparison is flawed.

Both will get around $5M AAV if I'm guessing.

Don't know if he will sign with them, but the Caps would be a great fit for him. They are missing that 2nd line 25-30 goal guy that can play a physical style and has won in the playoffs.
