Got this from HF boards
as per Brian McNally
Quote:
#Caps defenseman Jeff Schultz, frustrated by lack of playing time the past 2 seasons, has asked team for a trade. Details on blog in a bit
Quote:
Jeff Schultz requested #Caps move him in mid-March when it became clear he'd been passed on depth chart, according to agent Jarrett Bousquet
Quote:
I know that Jeff Schultz +50 is used as example No. 1 why that stat stinks. His goals against/60 minutes that year was awesome: 1.61.

One more on Schultz from agent Jarrett Bousquet: "It’s to the point where playing in the [NHL] takes precedence over playing for [the Caps]"

I wonder how this guy compares to the goalies the Flames spent assets acquiring - Berra and Ramo.

I've watch a bit of all three
I'd rate them as
Raanta
.
Ramo
.
.
.
.
Berra
Ramo is likely a quality Backup or bad starter, an upgrade on Joey Mac, but not by leaps and bounds with Berra being a slightly better Henrik Karlsson. Raanta could be another Backstrom (mid tier starter)

nah man, that's not really fair to Berra in my opinion. I have seen quite a few games of Berra here and he's shown some good promise. Can't really comment on Ramo though, and the only thing I've seen from Raantta was the WC this year. But I don't think that Berra is lightyears behind those guys. His numbers were heavily influenced by playing on a bad team, that's all.
We'll have to wait and see what they can do on NA ice ... before that, it's just guesses and hearsay.

Could be the end of Shawn Horcoff and Ales Hemsky in Edmonton.
MacTavish just did an interview and said the ideal situation would be for them to move on and he wishes them the best.
Horcoff could very well be one of those two new buyouts where it doesn't effect the cap.

He would have to be. No way anyone trades for that contract.

I can't see that team moving forward with Horcoff as the captain... They've got to move him out. Obviously, most around here would be happy to see him stay

Agreed. And it frees up 5.5 M in cap space to go after some UFA's. A guy like Bickell will be an Oilers' target.

I am surprised Horcoff and Hemsky lasted this long there.. Hemsky would be moveable if they aren't looking to garner much in return, but Horcoff is a for sure buy out.
Edit: Actually the more you look into it, the more a Horcoff move could be possible. His cap hit is 5.5 a year, that is high for him and too high of a salary, however, he is only paid 4 million next year and 3 million the year after in the final year of that contract.
Teams that need to reach the floor or teams that don't mind higher cap hits if the salary is cheaper would definitely take him on.

Gritty forward Matt Hendricks may reach free agency, perhaps a target for Feaster? 56.8% in the FO circle last season

Weird timing to be calling a press conference on a Saturday. Wonder if they snatched up one of the fired coaches. Vigneault possibly?

They've Acquired their Sixth Giordano in a trade with the Flames sending their seventh over all pick to calgary in return! I kid.
I would guess they scrapped their coach and are bringing in a big one like Ruff or AV.

I would have like Hartikainen on the Flames, he was what Edmonton should have prioritized as important to the success of their team. Gritty third liner who given the right chances could produce. Hard on the puck. Oilers loss and a stupid loss IMO.
