Sorry, I just noticed the bourbon chatter - for me It's Buffalo Trace. I love it because it's good on its own or mixed (manhattan is my drink of choice). It's 35-40/bottle so, it's not that hard on the wallet.

When I drop more money, it's on Eagle Rare, but I usually have 5-6 bourbons in the house at any given time.

Elijah Craig is also very nice for a moderately priced bourbon. (Mid to upper $30's... think it's available at the Kensington Wine Market).

I just had a client give me a bottle of Auchentoshan 3 wood and a Glenkinchie 12.

The Auchentoshan is spectacular, I'll have to try the Glenkinchie again, I found it rather bland but that may be because I had it after the Auchentoshan.

Went to the scotch tasting at Willowpark the weekend before last and had a couple of good experiences. I ended up picking up another bottle of Highland Park 12, Jura prospectus and my buddy got a bottle of Hazelburn.

The two not highland park were probably the best ones we tasted. I discovered that i don't really like a scotch unless it's spent some time in sherry casks..

The Sherry casks are definitely nice, but I also enjoy scotches that have spent some time in port casks (probably my favorite actually) and bourbon casks aren't too bad either.

Casking makes a huge difference. I love bourbon casked scotch.

I'm a big fan of that Jura, been drinking it for a while now. Unfortunately that seems to have caught on and the damned bottle doubled in price.

Yeah, basically, i need it casked,in something sweeter to take the edge off otherwise its just like pure alcohol.

I got the Jura for about $85, since my company has an account with WP.

BUMP

I needed to invest in a new bottle so I went searching CP for a recommendation. I ended up grabbing CAOL ILA DISTILLER'S EDITION from Highlander. Haven't had a chance to crack it yet but looking forward to it.

I've been really liking TALISKER lately. I've also had a HIGHLAND PARK pass through that was excellent.

What's new in your scotch cupboard?

I have a bottle of Ardbeg Corryvrekan that is my favorite of what I brought back from Scotland this time. It is 57%, which is actually good in that it forces me to take it nice and slow. It has a lot of caramel, baking spices and some chocolate in it.

Not sure where else to put this, but my father in law gave me this a few weeks ago.

Not quite sure how one drinks a gallon of scotch....

Have you ever eaten part of a Scot's lawn? If not, be prepared.....

I hope you like the peaty stuff.

I do!

Found this on the internet, I'm drooling.....

With ample stock of the Lagavulin Distiller's Edition on hand from our feature a couple of weeks ago, we decided that an ultimate shootout was in order. Two glasses. Neat. Mano a mano. Lagavulin Distiller's versus Caol Ila Distiller's.

Thanked for your good tastes

Caol ila and Talisker are among the 2 smokiest single malts usually available at liquor stores (I think Lagavulin 16 is still the king for smokiness).
Talisker kind of has a campfire like aroma. Caol Ila I swear has a smokiness like good bacon (I refer to it as bacon scotch).
Can't go wrong with either

For some reason, never found myself enjoying Highland Park even though it's fairly popular.

If you like'em smoky and peaty under $100, try Bowmore line – 15, 17 and 18.

Bowmore 18 is what got me hooked long ago. It will always have place right beside Lagavulin 16 as the 1-2 punch that continually empties my wallet.
