Getting a liquor license is pretty easy (most liquor stores should have them, Willow Park will for sure), there are two types of licenses: Non-Sale or Re-sale: The re-sale is a bit more (I think they're $15 and $25 respectively, or they were when I left retail liquor), but obviously if you're having a cash bar or anything like that than you'll need the re-sale. Works pretty much like a regular liquor licenses, service until 2am with 1 hour afterwards.

I had mine at heritage park just over 10 years ago...

For partiers you have to be out at 1:00 am...no exceptions.

In after closing (was 6 pm on Saturdays) and out by 1:00 am.

We did a toonie bar but it was all their standard offerings.

They did let us put some Screech behind the bar for those brave enough to try it. No charge for that.

Food was good. Typical prime rib / chicken combo, desserts etc...

Definite controls on decorations, but that being said the western theme was decoration enough for most people.

We got married there as well. By a JP on the Moyie in the middle of the reservoir. Kinda cool imo...

Congrats !!!!!!!

We had around your parameters (~140 people, nothing schmancy, something central) and went with Fort Calgary. Hasn't gone down yet, so can't tell you how that turns out.

I went to a Fort Calgary wedding last year and it was awesome. Amazing venue, you'll like it!

We're doing the UofC downtown campus. Hasn't happened yet (2 weeks to go)
It's a pretty nice place, easy to bring in outside caterer.

Bumping for any other feedback.

Looking at Fall 2014, Canmore/Banff venues that people have been to and liked.

Mine was at the Lougheed House with around 100. It was a great venue for the ceremony, but I wouldn't do the reception there. My reception was at Oceana.

Brother got married at the Valley Ridge golf course a couple of years ago. It was nice, outside wedding with indoor reception but access to outside all night long. Some hotels close by and they did the photos in some park close by as well but don't remember the name.

Been to a couple of Heritage Park weddings and they have always been fun but the fairly early closing time can be a bit of a pain. You need to start wrapping up early to get cabs called and everybody out.

Can't offer too much but I do like golf course weddings, just nice settings with just enough mix of casualness and class.

I called. Unfortunately, they don't do any wedding functions. They require all events to have an educational/learning element. (One could say you learn lots about your family at a wedding, but I digress).

If you go a little farther the wedding I went to at Lake Louise last summer was fantastic and apparently not overly expensive compared to Banff.
