Is it supposed to be whom you personally would select if you were GM, or who you think the most likely selection would be? Because if its the latter, there is 0% chance Colorado doesn't take Jones.

Really? Do you work for the Avalanche scouting department or front office? What makes you say that there is 100% chance that Colorado will take Jones? The incredibly overblown Sakic-Jones relationship? The one where his dad randomly ran into Sakic and asked him for advice? The fact that he doesn't consider Denver his hometown? Him being a Red Wings, not an Avalanche, fan?
Factor in the fact that the Avalanche need just as much help up front as they do on defense, and that MacKinnon is basically the epitome of what the Avalanche like in a player. I would say there is an equal chance they draft MacKinnon or Jones.

I agree with you that it isn't a formality that Jones goes 1, but I will disagree with the above.
Duchene, Landeskog, O'Reilly, Stastny, Parenteau make for a pretty solid core group of top nine forwards and three of them are under 25. Yeah Mackinnon could replace Stastny next year but Duchene, O Reilly are still a really good 1-2 punch.
