Who? I don't think Goalies or Defense are really available at the deadline.

That only matters if the Flames were going to pick Berglund instead of Irving. >95% chance that they would have picked Irving at the 25th spot if they had it. The team's lists are so different at that point of the draft, that the chances a team 1 or 2 spots in front of you picking your guy is slim. I still want the Penguins to lose because you never know, but most likely it won't matter.

If he still wants to be paid top dollar (>$4 mil) Iginla won't have as many choices in where he goes as a UFA as he did when the Flames shopped him. I doubt there will be more than four teams in the running, and I doubt any of them are contenders. Boston wasn't good enough? Well, how do you like your choice of Ottawa, Edmonton, Toronto, or Dallas? Funny how things turn out sometimes.

Lots of rumors around that draft was that Berglund was the guy the Flames were targeting.

Biggest issue with the Penguins: they have a weird inferiority complex and have to try and prove they are tough.
The team seems to get sick of being the talented team and always hearing how tough the Bruins (or in last years case the Flyers) are to play against.
They then try to go out and play that tough style of hockey, which automatically kills their chances. They instantly stop playing to their strengths, stop dictating the style of play, and they drive the style of play to one that benefits the Bruins.
They have two of the most talented players in the world...but still seem like they would rather go out there and prove they are tougher then the Bruins instead of just beating them with their talent.
Until they stop trying to be something they are not in the playoffs they will not win. Look at Chicago right now, you don't see them trying to prove they are tougher than L.A. They know they are more talented and are going to win that way.

Exactly.
27th, 28th, 29th, 30th, it's pretty much the same thing
Iginla winning a cup is much more important to me than a 27th overall pick

I'm not sure how it can be viewed any other way. I get that Iginla built up a lot of credit with the fanbase over his career, so many people are willing to let it slide, but you are essentially taking one thing and calling it something else. Iginla jerked the Flames and Bruins around, and he jerked them around good. Right or wrong, that is what happened.

Wow, you make it sound like he teased Boston for a month with a bunch of bull####
Changing your mind at the last second isn't "jerking" the team around

I guess if you can't actually refute anything, just call it "a bunch of bull####". Oh well.

Ok. "You make it sound like Iginla fed the Bruins a month full of lies and deceit".
Better?

How can any of us know what really went on? My guess is that Meehan gave Feaster a list of 4 (5) teams that he would be willing to consider waiving the NTC for. That doesn't mean Feaster has to accept any offer from Iginla's first choice of teams, and it also doesn't mean Iginla has to accept Feaster's first choice. I don't see why anyone has to look for a bad guy in all of this.

I agree, Iginla didn't have to accept the very first trade that Feaster got lined up, which is on the lines of why I feel Iginla didn't jerk Boston around. It was Iggy's NTC, if he wanted to go to Pittsburgh instead of Boston, that's his call

I disagree, if you give a list, that should be that. That's the purpose of a list.
Why not give a list of 30 and just keep refusing? It's dumb.

Iginla is still better than guys like Kunitz, Dupuis and Neal. He is slower, but these guys don't do F all. Neal shoots the puck blindly ever time the puck gets to his stick. He had a one timer on the PP that literally went into the corner. The guy looks like an idiot out there. Iginla is a pure goal scorer, he has lost speed but at least he knows how to shoot. He doesn't blindy shoot the puck every chance he gets.
People saying he doesn't even have a spot in the Pens lineup honestly don't know jack about hockey. What is so great about Pitt anyways? They have the two best centers in the game and after that they have no one.
Jarome Iginla is the 3rd best forward on this team, hands down.

Because he didn't want Feaster to waste his time negotiating with 29 teams (plus one mystery one apparently)? I mean, this is pretty straight forward common sense stuff here isn't it?
"Jay, you have approached me for a trade, and since I've played here my entire career, this is a huge decision I have to think about. I've earned this right to think it over because of that there NTC Darryl gave me. Here's a list of four teams. I will definitely waive my NTC to go to one of these teams, but I'll have to talk things over with that sleazeball meehan as the deadline approaches. Start negotiating and I'll let you know who I pick. Cheers."
Best part of this villainizing the character of the classiest player in the league is that it likely never would have happened without that dumbass Ward prematurely shooting his wad on live television.

I think the purpose is to prevent the GM from wasting his time kicking tires with 25 teams he doesn't want to go to. If deals with Pittsburgh and Boston didn't pan out he would of (more than likely) waived to go to a different team on his list.
Pittsburgh was clearly number one on his list before the Boston offer came in and it continued to stay that way

That's ridiculous.
Everyone knows that the Flames' ownership has as much balls as Lord Varys. Can't give what you don't have.

If that's the purpose, then it failed because Feaster ended up wasting the better party of his day, as well as that of Chiarelli's , by negotiating a deal with Boston in the first place only to have it nixed by Iginla.
Usually teams get a list and then the player signs an official waiver stating that they will go to any of those teams. In this case, they took Iginla at his word and didn't make him sign anything. That was their mistake.
