the biggest surprise in Button's list is how many big changes there were, especially since there wasn't a lot of hockey for most of these players not playing in the Memorial Cup. The U18 only had a handful of games, mostly against inferior opponents

Are Button's position descriptions right? If so, he doesn't have a natural RW on his list until 37 (Zykov).

And it's worth noting that Boston had multiple 2nd rounders in the years they made those picks.

It should be noted that the Bergeron pick in the second round was extremely shrewd and bold drafting. Patrice Bergeron was a completely off-the-radar pick that year, none of the draft guides had him listed and I think he was way down or possibly absent from the CSS rankings as well.

Yep, looks like he's a natural RW who plays C sometimes and not the other way around.

What would it take for Calgary to get a 4th 1st round pick?

The best chance at that is the other team with 3 first rounders, who have openly stated that those picks are available for veteran help.

Nichushkin is listed as RW by some but he shoots left.
Craig's list highlights how much we could use a few 2nd rounders. Some 1st round types will drop into the 2nd, it's inevitable.

I would almost be tempted to trade back a position or two with the Pitts pick to pick up additional picks in the top 60.

Man if we could move up slightly to get Horvat I think you have to do it. If we picked by his list I like Ristolainen, Bowey or Rychel at #22 and at #28 I like Pulock, Lazar, Zykov, McCoshen, Heatherington, Mueller, Theodore, Hagg, etc.
Where's McCarron on his list? I thought he guy had a ridiculous U-18 and is a 6'5 powerforward?

I'm not a big McCarron fan but his stock is definitely rising. Reminds me a lot of Hugh Jessiman and I think he could surprise and go in the top 15. Unfortunately for Flames fans, this is a guy who I could see the Flames going for.

I keep forgetting we have three first rounders. Can't wait for the draft.
Will be cool to see the photo ops post-1st round with three new Flames.

I speculated a theory last night where the Flames could trade up to 17 @ Ottawas pick. certainly do-able with them looking for scoring wingers. 22 and Cammy for 17th and a D prospect. Ceci may not be do-able but there is wiggle room to make it happen.
Say Craigs list has some validity and Ristolainen and Zykov fall that low. Thats as best a first round as you could possibly ask for.

Ya, its amazing... the more I learn about these players, the more I want Feaster to pick up more Top 60 picks!!!
This is allegedly a deep draft, but because of the 3 first rounders, this is by far the most attention I've ever given to the draft, so it seems like an especially deep draft from my perspective
I assume there are other Flames fans in the same boat.

I'm not sure how eager the Sens are to part with Ceci, but I think the basic structure of this deal makes great sense for both teams.

Same here. Usually I try to focus on the section of the draft where the Flames are. This year it is super fun as I get to focus on the whole draft board

Probably the first time ever in my life I've been more excited about the draft and coudln't care less about the cup. This is new territory for Flames fans. As much as it sucked watching the team lose, its pretty cool knowing we have some pretty good talent headed our way. I just hope to God the management team doesn't screw it up. As much as l think the hockey gods are always against us, having 3 first rounders in a draft this incredibly deep is truly a blessing.

I don't know why but it really scared me to see Fucale up so high. I don't really care if we pick him low in the 1st but I imagine this place would burn to the ground if we took him at #6.
