The point is that smaller players are more viable options in the NHL since the crackdown on obstructions, which is true. GMs, including Feaster are all adapting that new reality. So looking at Feaster's drafting record from 10 years ago and saying he likes only big players is pretty irrelevant.

I guarantee the top 5 picks will be jones, mac, droiun, bark, nich in no particular order.
(p.s. I'm almost always wrong when predicting the future, which is why I guarantee this)

Monahan for sure. We need size and skill. Monahan has both

if it's between the two of them, I'd take Monahan for sure. If we have a chance, MacKinnon. If we can't get Mackinnon then I'd be more than happy with Monahan. If both of those guys are gone when we pick, then take whatever we can get...

Unless NSH and CAR are misleading us it sounds like both of them will be taking forwards for sure. Can't see Barkov slipping out of the top 4-5.

I'm hoping (realistically) that it goes
Jones
MacKinnon
Drouin
Barkov
Monahan
leaving Lindholm as our choice. I just feel that if we take Monahan with Lindholm on the table, we'll regret it one day. I hope whoever we pick ends up being the right choice in hindsight.

For me, seeing this pic nailed it home that Lindholm really isn't much smaller than Monahan, he's solid and over 6' tall.. I'm definitely okay with either player and likely the choice will be made for us:

My prediction is:
Jones
Mackinnon
Drouin
Lindholm
Nichuskin (Monahan/Nurse potentially here too...Carolina seems to like their Canadian kids in the first round)
Barkov
Somebody in the top 5 always falls in the draft, and I don't see it being any of the top 3.

This scenario would be awesome and hilarious if the Oilers then took Nichushkin, and he ends up never coming over the North America.

Opinion noted and somewhat shared. I just wonder if the Flames would pass on a prospective Kovalchuck-esqe player. I think at worst he could be an elite scoring winger with a streaky work ethic and low physical game, at best: a complete offensive threat that buys into team work and physicality.

An elite scoring winger is hardly "at worst" for Nichushkin.

Man a lot of people are freaked out that whoever the Oilers take will be better than ours.
Get it threw your thick skills people, whoever they pick doesn't matter, they will still find a way to suck.

I think there is a real possibility that Nichushkin goes to the Lightning.
Also, I just read a comment from a scout (Mark Edwards) who said he would be surprised if Monahan isn't scooped up by the Hurricanes.
My prediction:
1. Jones
2. Mackinnon
3. Nichushkin
4. Drouin
5. Monahan
6. Barkov
7. Lindholm
For the record, I think I'd rather have Monahan. He is about as sure a bet as there is. However, I could see any of the top 7 end up being the best player of the entire lot.
I don't want to move up from the 6th pick. I would rather try and pry Carolina's pick somehow and get two stud centermen.
Pit's pick + Stl pick + Giordano for 5th

No way the Flames trade Gio. We likely don't have the assets to acquire an additional top 5 pick. Flames won't trade Brodie, Gio, Glencross, Sven which are our best assets on top of the picks
