I have to say, the reactions are really some form of schaedenfreude for me. ASoFaI is a great book series, but few of my friends have read it. Though this does bring a big thing to a close. We used to content ourselves, when folks were kvetching about us discussing a minor plot point, we'd think "Oh, sweet summer child, you have no idea of what we could discuss that would 'spoil' your show for you..."
Now there's nothing really big that happens like the S1 and S3 shockers.

Why did the show send the Blackfish to the wedding? A little bit more screen time?
The show hasn't done a very good job with him, imho.

Sorry...perhaps I should have said " I feel" that there's nothing really big that happens like the S1 and S3 shockers. But then, I found book 4 to be rather boring, and felt that Book 5 didn't need to happen like it did. With some good editing, GRRM likely could have fit books 4 and 5 together, like the original intent was.

Yeah it's all downhill from here.
There's really nothing that interesting after the end of Book 3.

Season 4 they can end with Joffrey/Tywin's deaths.
Season 5 they can combine books 4/5 and end it with Jon's 'death'.
I would say that is two pretty big season enders right there. After that well we don't really know what happens yet so it is hard to say... but I imagine Martin has a few more things up his sleeve..
I can see book 6 being out in time for season 6, or maybe being filmed while the books is being finished up.. that gives Martin another 2+ years. No way that book 7 is out before season 7 though. They could either follow the intended story line and we see the series end through the show, or troll us hard and use the show to do an alternate ending, and not tell us.
Edit: Unless 6/7 are being written the same as 4/5? were, occurring at the same time just too big for one book so the character view points are split up.

Joffrey needs to die near to the beginning of the next season I think, there is a lot that goes on in between his death and Tywins.

They aren't. 4/5 was just supposed to be 4. Books 6 and 7 are their own massive beasts for GRRM to deal with.

At least they had him 'taking a leak' while it was going down. I'm assuming he will be alive and on his way back to Riverrun. In the books I hope he still becomes a major character later on, so it would piss me off to have the TV show spoil it by killing him off or something.
The one thing that really set my wife off (probably because she is 8 months pregnant) was the stabbing of Robb's unborn child. The reaction of the TV viewers thread reminds me of my reaction when I read it. I needed to take a day off after that (reading the book, not work).

Next episode must be the discovery that Jorah has been spying for Varys and his banishment from Daenerys. That moment after he, Grey Worm and what'sisname mercenary come back from taking Yunkai when his heart breaks was some pretty good foreshadowing for the moment when she banishes him.
Hopefully it will also include Arya dispatching the Hound (somehow, he didn't get wounded at the Twins the way he did in the books) and getting on the boat for Braavos.
Jon will probably come back to the Wall and get arrested by Janos Slynt.
That would be a good ending for the season, Jorah banished from Daenerys who starts installing herself in Yunkai, Jon arrested and in chains, Arya on a boat to Braavos.

Add Lady Stoneheart to that, and you've got a great season finale...though, it's not like they've done much with Stoneheart since then. =/

Dany doesn't stay in Yunkai, she'll be off to Mereen next. And doesn't Jorah only get banished after they reach Mereen?

My bet is that the season ends with Bran meeting Cold hands

I think there's still more to show regarding the Hound and Arya based on the preview for next weeks episode, but he doesn't get injured in the books until after the Red Wedding when he fights Polivar and the Tickler at an inn--in fact, that fight isn't supposed to happen until after Joffrey's wedding.
I wonder if they'll skip that part entirely and just have him hurt through some other means in order to save time, so escaping the Red Wedding massacre with some injuries would be a convenient way to write that in. Still, I think it'll be early next season before he finally dies, unless they really rush the whole scene. They need something for Arya to do next season without leaping into book 4, so having her and the hound slowly move through villages until the end, the hound dies, then she leaves for the boat. It would be like the Bran storyline in season 3 where nothing much happens until the last minute.
I want to see how definitive they make the hounds death, as there's still the Gravedigger theory to work with.

Jorah gets banished after they take Meereen - Dany finds out before the battle who Arstan really is, as well as Jorah's betrayal, and sends them both into the sewers.
After the city is taken she forgives Barristan and banishes Jorah.

Right but Arstan Whitebeard never appeared in the show, just Barristan Selmy. They have already shown they aren't scared to deviate from the books and I think Jorah being sent away, someone who has been a fixture since season 1 (one of the few that have), would be a great cliff hanger for next season.

Hmmm, they are discussing the Lady Stoneheart potential in the GoT thread.
