It took them a year to get Weisbrod listed in their Hockey ops. Ron Sutter has been with the Flames Hockey Ops for over a decade, currently Director of player development?, but no mention of him. This is just scratching the surface.

Well to be honest I don't visit the site if ever because I always remember it being pretty bad.

He can be if he is inspired. Without his friend Iggy and Feaster saying he does not want to be part of a rebuild, i could see Tanguay mailing it in next year if he is on the flames. Don't want to have that kind of presence for the youngsters.
Another problem if he choses to play uninspired hockey with the flames next year, is that the past 2 coaches have not been willing to bench top 6 players, and i don't see that changing.

Guys with noses out of joint can really have an effect on young guys who are being asked to play at a high consistent level. They see one guy with an attitude mailing it in and then no consequences. We need guys smashing their sticks who hate losing.

Carolina doesn't bite on that. It would have to be Gio and he's going to be the team's next captain by the sound of it.

Unless Calgary can pay 175% of Wideman's
contract, this has zero chance. Carolina needs to shed salary, not take on another bloated contract. The Staals, Semin, Cam Ward, and pending raise for Skinner have them in a bind.

Tuomo Ruutu I believe is a contract that Carolina may not be so fond of anymore.

That's a perfect fit. Ruutu could play C in CGY next season.
Ruutu and 5th overall
For
Giordano and 27-30 overall
Hmm, perhaps not quite a great trade for CAR but its a good start

Or RW. Whichever is good. I'd trade for him just because. Doesn't even have to involve the 5th overall. I am sure a good deal for his services could be reached. He is made from a bit of glass but when he is healthy he is a beast. The Flames need that.

Agreed, I've always liked Tuomo...he is injured a lot though. Has it been said anywhere he has fallen out of favor in CAR??

Zero chance that Giordano is moved - he is our best D-man and is likely the captain next year.
And you have to ice an actual hockey team - what would the D look like without Gio?
Some people are going to have to learn to have some patience - you can't trade your entire team and dress 20 draft picks next year.
A trade that might make sense though would be something like Ruutu and a 2nd for a 4th or 5th. Purely a cap purchase.

Ruutu AND a second for crap?
That makes 0 sense for Carolina. Ruutu for a 2nd makes no sense for them.

If they want to get rid of his contract it does. Whether or not they do however, I am not sure (and I doubt that they are in that much trouble, looking at capgeek). Just replying to the poster that brought it up.

If Gio is untouchable then the Flames mgmt team is poor. He may be the Flames best D, but he's not so good to not be considered a movable asset in a rebuild, nor is he young enough to earn that status...he's no longer an improving player, in fact recent evidence suggests the opposite.
He's likely the remaining vet that could fetch the best package of futures moving forward, so that possibility should be explored, at the very least.
And, can we stop with the "you can't trade everyone" bs???
The Flames have traded 2 vets thus far, to suggest 1 or 2 more get moved is hardly beyond reason.

Ruutu would actually be a good fit for Calgary. Solid guy and isnīt the type of player who would just mail it in if the team sucked. Itīs not a good contract though but that doesnīt really matter in the current situation.

Powerplay Quarterback

Reflecting back on the STH session, Feaster mentioned that they don't want to draft a "project" this time around, and would like someone who can help them "yesterday", as far as being NHL-ready is concerned. Does this mean they may be shying away from Lindholm due to his intent to remain in the SEL for at least another year?
