Now you could obviously say Detroit did all they could to shut him down, but Malkin was clearly the better player during that playoff run.
|
He also took key draws, played gret defensively and played against Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Ralfaski and Zetterberg so that Malkin was able to go against the lesser guys on Detroit. I remember Babcock talked about how hard it was to play against Crosby and how much focus they had to have on him. Not great offensive numbers but without him the Pens don't come close to winning those series and Malkin is likely shutout completely going against the Red Wings big guns.

What?
It wasn't intentional at all or close to being dirty.
People can hate Cooke for his past (although it seems way over the top on here for some reason) but making things up doesn't strengthen your case for him being a POS.

Sarcasm? Accidentally cutting someone's Achilles isn't dirty

Pens are really misusing Iginla. Putting him on LW and not having him on the PP. He probably would had fit into Boston's system better.

How is that not interference?
10 times more obvious than the Orpik call.

Some say it was an accident, others don't. Whether or not it was actually intentional doesn't go against the fact that it was Cooke who was involved in the play, and was a complete idiot by raising his skate like that.
How many other players this year had their Achilles cut in a similar fashion? Heck how many in the last 5 years? I honestly can't think of one where a similar action occurred. The only time it really has happened involved Matt Cooke; the player many people consider to be the dirtiest player in the game (him or Torres at least).
I don't think it was intentional, but considering who was involved you really can't be 100% sure it was not either.

Came here to see people blindly calling out Cooke. Got what I was looking for.
The hit was a hit from behind because of McQuaid turning his back to Cooke. If McQuaid had protected himself the hit would have probably been fine. Maybe a charging could have been called but this one isn't on Cooke.
Cooke can take a shot that deflect off a defenders stick, off the post and into the nose of a guy who fell trying to defend the net and people here would still be calling for Cooke's head, and acting appalled that he could be so dastardly.

Wow, such blatant interference. What a stupid play by Lucic to sacrifice a 2 on 0 for what should have been a penalty, and nice dive the other way. Just terrible.

Risking taking an interference call in that situation was so, so dumb. He wasn't going to catch Bergeron.

Blindly calling him out? Everyone calling the game said it was the right call. Just because a few Cooke apologists and noted Penguins fans say otherwise does not mean it was an outrageous call.

I agree with Simpson on that Marchand play........if Letang stayed on his feet instead of blatantly diving there probably would have been a call. The dive was too over the top, glad they didn't call it. Diving shouldn't be rewarded in the game.

So the guy who has been playing entirely clean for the most of two years would purposely get his skate up with the intent of being dirty?
Right

The Achilles thing with Karlsson was clearly a freak accident. Disliking Cooke is one thing, thinking that he intentionally injured Karlsson in such a way moves people into 9/11 conspiracy territory.

God Iginla is horribly slow. Always the last guy back, and the last guy up the ice. Always behind the play. Is the pace in the East that much faster?
