Default Who were the 2 fellas standing around Bow Valley Square yesterday??

I was in downtown Calgary yesterday, and at the SW corner of BV Square there was 2 fellas standing with signs around their neck say something along the lines of "we were the the Nazi's of Canada". I was driving, and didn't stop, but I saw another guy having a heated debate with one of the guys. The one was yelling things at people as they walked by.

Did anyone see these two? What were they protesting?

They have been at that for years now. I am curious too, but don't want to encourage them by speaking with them. Too many people get in fights with them, that is what they are looking for, and sure enough there are always those few suckers who fall for their trap.

Signs change every once in a while, but they're there pretty consistently. Shouting, trying to talk to people. Their signs are pretty complicated to read quickly without getting pulled into a discussion, but I think it has something to do with some Jewish conspiracy and some Harper person (not Stephen) being a crook.

But yes, flute man owns the parkade corner, and terrible guitar/amp guy runs the +15 into Intact Place. Its all one big racket I tell ya.

I actually see amp guy playing acoustic on Stephen Avenue and in Princes Island Park now that the weather is warmer but he's still pretty terrible. Amp guy doesn't sing.

As a guitarist, I realized early on that you can solo all you want but nobody really cares unless you bust out a 3-chord song and sing and then suddenly people listen.

I wonder what the story is with flute guy, he's mumbled to me before, sounds French Canadian.

I swear I see "spare change" more than my own family members.

Was one of the protesters that big balding guy? I see him in front of my work sometimes, I think he wears something about the Jewish Defence League and Jews in Canada and stuff. He looks like a pedophile or something even without the sign.

Is it weird that I'm happy to hear "spare change" is still around? I haven't been down that way for a long time.

What about the guy who's always yelling about Mayor Nenshi and conspiracies and how Canadians are all idiots? Is he still around?

Sometimes there's that guy next to the Tim Horton's corner that stands rigidly looking at the tops of the skyscrapers, then bows very slowly and does the Queen wave. Then, he'll perfectly pivot 90 degrees, and bow to the next skyscraper. Then he pivots again.

He makes sure he never leaves his two foot radius. It's quite impressive, actually. The look of prolonged pleasure on his face makes me believe he's one happy dude.

Ya, thats one of the two Bow Valley guys.

Thoughts on Whistlin' Cowboy? He's probably my favorite just due to his skill and volume

No, electric guitar guy doesn't sing. You're thinking of Tom Waits guy.

How about that dude that looks like Weird Al? I think he usually wears a brown Carhartt type jacket. He's always mumbling stuff and moving around pretty quickly. Really shifty too. Ive seen him dart in and around cars at intersections sometimes.

On the BVS corner, there's also that friendly jolly fat guy that stands on the SW corner by those statues. He never really says much, just tries to make eye contact with you and smiles when you walk towards him. He's always holding up some type of paper or magazine but I never get close enough to actually see what paper/mag it is.

Anyone see that crazy blonde woman standing on 4th ave and 10th st (next to the river) that walks between vehicles for money at red the red light? She is always tweaked out and you could tell she was once a normal person - but crack has did her in. She even wears designer clothing! Haven't seen her in a couple of months but if she's not there, then you could usually find her in Kensington.

I think these are the same guys that stand outside the university train station sometimes and always talk about how 40,000 deaths are our fault for not talking to them.
