Can someone provide me with the email to the producer of the station. I am super upset that they took the third hour of jim rome off the air for the Hockey Central show which totally sucks.

Personally I can't stand Rome but this might help. Program director is listed.

Maybe he's not off the air and they're just filling dead airtime during one of Jim's pauses.

I used to switch to the fan 590 to listen to hc @ noon when Rome started. The thing I like about Rome is it is the only time you will hear legit NBA discussion on the fan

I'd be more happy if they got rid of Rome period!

In all fairness the long pauses are better than when he says the same thing 8 times in a row with a short pause in between.

Jim Rome is the best interview in sports. period. regardless if you like his show/schtick/smackoffs/jungle, the guy does his homework, asks relevant questions and is great at bringing honest answers from interviews.

he also does a great job of promoting hockey in the states even if it is (usually) an LA King or Anaheim Duck being interviewed.

I was only slightly bothered by the loss of an hour of Rome. My biggest frustration is that they replaced it with Hockey Central. I love hockey but that show is grating, irritating, and aggravating.

I would rather lick a toilet seat than listen to Hockey Central.

Me and a few of my friends have been banging the monkey pretty hard. I sent a very sour email to Kirch, and he replied that Rome's ratings aren't great. He basically said the same thing to everyone I know who emailed him.

I do understand those who do not like Rome. Perhaps you don't like fresh takes, good interviews, and clone humor. However, it is undeniable that the programming on that station has gone downhill, and the hockey central guys are pretty brutal. It's all recycled opinions, inside and non-funny jokes, and now with even MORE Leafs talk. That doesn't even take into account the state of their afternoon programming.

Anyhow, as people have pointed out, plenty of other ways to listen to Rome, and you can listen to the fan as much or as little as you want based on what you like or don't like. Kirch would have me believe that their ratings are through the roof and some of the highest in the country. I'm not sure if I believe him entirely, but it's definitely possible. Bland and unoriginal stuff seems to sell pretty well these days.

I actually think the second best thing the fan has next to Rome these days is this Farrell on the Bench guy. I really like his commentary, and he covers a unique array of topics with good takes.

Listening to guys like that and then listening to Ryan say to Pat, "so, the guys on hockey central were discussing who has the pressure on them now, Chicago or Detroit, what do you think?"
"Well umm, I think Chicago definitely does, but Detroit does too, so I guess I would say both."
"Completely disagree Pat, I think Detroit has all the pressure on now, but I suppose Chicago does too. I would have to say they both do."

Beyond when they get Friedman and Duha on, it is mindless unintelligent dribble.

This is basically how I feel. Rome being gone is one thing, but to replace (only the last hour?!) with Hockeycentral is just terrible. Maybe Rome wasn't getting the ratings they hoped for, but I can't see how an hour of those three is going to rectify that. No one in Calgary could have been hoping for more Toronto hockey talk.

Scott Ferrall has a good show. I like that he has a variety of guests and talks about basically every sport. I liked his show when it was on Sirius, but its still alright on CBS.

What? If you don't like Rome it isn't because he is an obnoxious d-bag with 0 knowledge of sports, repeats everything he says, wastes interviews sucking up to athletes rather than getting anything of interest out of them and can't stand the morons that call into the station it can only be because you don't like good things? Rome is terrible. Fine if you like him but not sure that others don't because they don't like "fresh takes, good interviews, and clone humor."

It is very deniable. Perhaps to yourself it has gone downhill but to many others, likely the majority, it is better now than it was with Rome.

Why wouldn't the ratings be amongst the highest in the country? Calgary is 4th biggest city in Canada so we can say it is behind TO (590) and Vancouver (Team), Montreal likely splits between the English and French radio so very possible it is the 3rd highest sports station in Canada. That seems pretty good.

If I listened to the radio at noon, I'd do the same.

Is that the crackly voiced guy? His show is actually decent, but man his voice takes some getting used to.

I enjoy Rome, but I am not bothered by the inclusion of more hockey chat at all. Especially with the Flames out of the playoffs. 2hrs of Jim Rome is fine.

Aside from the East centric bend on Hockeycentral I do still like it. Hey its hockey talk, its what most of us crave around here isnt it?
