If there was ever any doubt that this wasn't a leftie smear job, this should erase most of it.
Im curious as to what you believe this corroborates.
Im all about this guy getting ousted from office as its perfectly clear he is little more than a circus sideshow at this point, but nothing mentioned in that article suggests that there is drug use (though nothing would surprise me at this point). The former CoS wanted him to hit rehab, but no where does it say it was for crack use...and in fact it has long been suggested he has alcohol problems ....which would make more sense, but also possibly lead to really bad decisions which could include the alleged incident.
At this point....we still simply have no idea if things happened as suggested or not, anymore than we did a week ago.
I will say this though...the guy should just resign and call it a day, get some help and maybe give it a try in the future after much apologizing and some contrition.
Right... So the alternate theory is that Rob Ford had never smoked crack, no video exists, and the entire thing is a liberal media house of cards waiting to collapse, and yet when they gathered to discuss a breaking cocaine scandal, his chief of staff tells him that this is the moment he should check into rehab for his alcohol addiction? Is that what you're suggesting, transplant?

Apparently the people with the video have been out of contact since Sunday so I won't hold my breath that the video ever sees the light of day.
$200,000 is not a lot of money to Rob Ford's family and I still think that in the end, they outbid whatever Gawker or other media are willing to pay for it... if it exists of course.

Where there's smoke, there's crack.

As much as I enjoy making fun of the man, if Rob Ford does indeed have serious substance abuse issues he needs to get that taken care of. These situations almost never correct themselves and almost always get worse. He needs to do whats best for himself and the city of Toronto and step away to take care of this.

If Rob Ford's family buys it, there will be many questions as to why they did and not just dismiss this as a "ridiculous" scandal.
And I'm still waiting for Ford to come out and say he doesn't smoke crack - which he hasn't actually said yet.
And the longer he waits, the more damage he does to his already-tarnished reputation.
Rehab is a pretty broad term to me, and Ford is a known heavy drinker.
His Chief of Staff was pretty stupid to be saying go to rehab right now when the crack cocaine video is hanging over his head, it almost says he's guilty even if it was rehab for drinking.
Its not corroboration of anything until we hear that it was rehab for drug use.

I didnt suggest anything actually, but thanks for putting words in my mouth.
All i said is that nothing in that article corroborates the alleged video....and in fact i did say i wouldnt be surprised if it was real to begin with.

If they do buy it, I don't expect them to come out and say they bought it. It will just disappear and they'll say there never was a video. The fact that the gang with the video has been unreachable by Gawker since Sunday could possibly mean that Ford has already acquired the evidence and it's no longer for sale.
Again, assuming it does exist. I think that it likely does, but there is some reasonable doubt still.

Dude, what his chief of staff was saying is "you are a complete mess, admit you have a problem, go to rehab, come back and people will forgive".
Obviously it's for crack, there's no way he suggests he goes for alcohol rehab in the middle of a drug scandal unless it's for drugs.
I think calling the allegations ridiculous is more then enough denial. Why should he come out and say I don't smoke crack, because people so believe Clinton when he said "I did not have sexual relations with that woman"
In terms of a cynical society, him coming out and saying I don't smoke crack gives power to the video and people won't believe him.
Calling the accusations ridiculous is the better way to go. I'm surprised he didn't issue a firm, "This is a complete load of bullsh$$, f%%K off"

Why pay $200,000. You can probably get a crack head to grease a couple of drug dealers for 1% of that.
ROI people.
