The French Restistance had some of the bravest and wiliest fighters during WW2 in my opinion and played a huge role in helping allies advance in Europe. I love reading about their stories.
The vast majority of the French cooperated willingly with the Vichy regime. The resistance existed and was significant but its ubiquity was romantically inflated
Seems like your stuck in your narrow minded ways and don't want to listen to anyone else's point of view and label then as a bigot/racist/fascist because they disagree with your views

Yes, so did the Dutch.
I know it's a movie but Defiance was an awesome movie

I understand but it's an uneducated one. I agree, we're seen as a bunch of a**holes that start shooting then ask questions. But many see the French as a bunch of pansies that would rather live under the thumb of the nazi's than fight for their freedom. Does that mean that it's true?
Anyone with a brain would know the French had zero choice to surrender, Hitlers "Blitzkrieg" tactics could not be stopped, If it wasn't for a channel England would have fell the same way.

French military leadership was still fighting World War 1 as were most countries at the start of the second world war.
The German combined arms kitchen sink approach was innovative and nearly impossible to defend.
The Soviets later perfected it, and the American's finally mastered it during the Gulf war.

What I find amazing in this thread are the attacks on scottish_flame from a group of people that are just as bigoted against Israel. I have seen basic lies, refusal to read facts and repetition of items they know to be false against Israel (all are basic examples of bigotry). When confronted with facts, they are never around to debate. But watch them cry foul when the roles are reversed...
Scottish has stated how he feels and people are attacking him, even when the people he condemns are doing their best to make him feel that way. In other words, there seems to be a campaign by terrorists to demonstrate they are after us and are acting on behalf of the Muslim world and asking the rest of the Muslim world to join them. While that is taking place, for a long time, Muslims around the world have been rather quiet, in fear of the extremists going after them. Additionally, comments by governments in the Arab world regarding their hatred to the west simply add to the problem. Throw in some home grown terrorists, how long before average citizens look over their shoulder in fear because a middle eastern fellow walks onto a plane? It is already happening, and guess what, nobody seems to have a solution.
Although I do not condone hatred or bigotry, I am not surprised people can react like Scottish (and what is going on in Britain right now). Too many Muslim nations treating their own citizens like total crap in my opinion is the problem, blaming the west is silly.
America has made mistakes, but they have also done a lot of good on the planet. But this is a myopic view - there are serious issues across Europe as well. Had some of the nations respected human rights, we may have a much different planet right now. That is too bad, I do not see a solution. There is a very good reason people move to Europe and North America, they are escaping.

Why are you throwing stones? This is quite funny when taken into account that you support a bigot like Scottish Flame.
Explain how I support anyone? I know nothing about Scottish Flame - I am simply not surprised people are stepping out like him in outrage (right or wrong). I know you are smart enough to understand that. I can't sit on the sidelines and provide an observation?
I am throwing stones because I am calling it like I see it. Such outrage from some posters when I have seen just as bad posts and comments from them. People are certainly calling it like they see it in this thread, but it goes both ways.

There was alot of racial profiling after 9/11. When the planes started to fly my brother who lives Statside commented that any time a Muslim got on a plane passengers would complain and wanted him off. As time went on the fears dissipated as well as the racial profiling. Passengers no longer had fears when a Muslim boarded a plane. People began to realise that if they didn't board those planes the Terrorists would have won and thankfully they did. Show no fear is how you beat them.

Get mad all you want but when someone calls the Muslim religion evil because of the acts of some terrorists you lose my support for any arguments you might have.
