He would be a good pickup for a team like the Canucks if they could get him on the cheap because he's one of those rare players that actually plays better in the playoffs than the regular season.

IMO they should buy out Bryzgalov as well as that contract is far worse and he's always going to be a distraction as he's just not good enough of a goaltender to ever play to the level of that contract.

Wonderful talent but his size and injury history of late make this a no-brainer.

$6.5M cap hit, but only $3M and $2M in actual salary for the next two seasons. Would a cap floor team take him for the cap boost?

He's being bought out. He'll be a UFA.

Plus, with his back-diving contract, it will cost them less than $1 million a year for the next four years to buy him out and get rid of his $6.5M cap hit for the next two years. There's no long-term pain in buying him out, unlike what there will be if they buy out Bryz.

Would be a good signing if the Flames didn't already have so many small forwards in the top six. He'll go somewhere like Nashville.

His three kids live with their mom in NJ, so I doubt he'll be straying very far from the area. I'd guess that he'd retire if no offer near his kids came in.

He would fit right in with the Oilers "midgets up front" mentality.

I thought i read that his 3 kids live with him and have for a while? It's the biggest reason that he has said for not wanting to waive his no trade clause.

The Rangers need some post season goals. He won't be out of work for long.

He's a guy that likes being out East no? I could see him ending up in New Jersey or New York.

Probably wouldn't even have to move his family from the suburbs of Philly in those cases.

He has a no movement clause so he doesn't have to go on waivers to be bought out and he'll almost surely nix any trade.

Given his low salary it's definitely in his interest to get bought out. All he'd have to do is earn the difference between his salary and his buyout (which is $1.65M) over the next 2 years to break even. So even if he signed somewhere for $850K a year for the next 2 years he'd make just as much money as if allowed himself to be traded or put on waivers. Anything above that meager salary and he comes out ahead.

No .... Philly would have offered him and a 4th round pick for someone willing to take him and his contract off their hands.

This sort of gives an indication of the value of Bouwmeester, Cammalleri and Tanguay. ie not one heck of a lot

PS. I stand corrected by his NMC. He is better off being bought out than accepting a trade to Florida or Winnipeg.

I think we have established Bouwmeester's value as a first round pick and 2 prospects.

unless there is something new in the CBA, players to be bought out first must be placed on unconditional waivers.

An example of this is Chris Drury who had a NMC. He waived it so the Rangers could place him on waivers then buy him out
