I rarely complain about broadcasters, especially former NHLers. Frankly, I don't mind Weekes and Stock doing their intermission schtick. I think Hrudey and Simpson are both adequate colour guys. But, Glenn Healy is an absolutely terrible broadcaster, and CBC should really consider the quality of their product if they think he should be part of it.
As many have noted, a lot of the things he says are wrong or illogical. But that's not the worst of it. On air he's rude, insulting and condescending, often to colleagues, many times to/about the players, and occasionally to the fans themselves. Who wants to watch that? I can't believe there aren't many more qualified and properly entertaining former NHLers who would do a much better job.
Get rid of this bozo already.

Terrible comparison with Iginla. While his defensive game hasn't been stellar lately, Iginla was a premier power forward in his prime and has a lot harder miles on his body. The anti-clutch and grab rule changes also favors Datsyuks skill game much more than Iginlas power forward game. The fact that Iginla isn't a defensive specialist has nothing to with his supposed 'rapid decline'.
Interesting to see the ways that some people can come up with to slight Iginla in any thread. Even a thread about Healy being an idiot. Amazing.

There is an old hockey news season preview at my Moms house for the 06-07 season. At that time Datsyuk's compete level is questioned, and he has 0 goals in his last 22 playoff games. He really took the 06 playoffs to heart and committed himself to upping his complete level. I remember watching a game back in 2008 where he easily knocked Phaneuf off the puck, and later was able to knock Iginla off balance and steal the puck. He was no longer a soft player, something he had been. I have a lot of respect for Datsyuk for that reason. He went from being a guy with 15 points in his first 42 playoff games to getting 87 in his next 94 after turning 28 years old.
Really Kristian Huselius is more of a guy who had he put the same committment level in that Datsyuk did, he could have had a much better career.

Yeah he's another guy with so much natural talent but just didn't have the drive or determination to be an all around player. The commitment really is what separates good from great.

Just about everyone at CBC HNIC is horrible. Even McLean is starting to wear thin.

McLean is a world class TV host, he's seriously brilliant at what he does.
Then he starts giving his opinion and you want to smash his wind pipe in.

I think Healy is gunning to be Cherry's replacement. A Leaf homer who says contreversial things all the time.
The problem is that he lacks Cherry's charisma and is generally unlikeable.

Generally unlikeable? Listening to this idiot makes scrubbing your face with sandpaper sound like an appealing alternative. He has a permanent seat reserved in the hall of shame with Al Strachan and Steve Simmons as most despised men in hockey media.

He seems popular with NHLPA types.

Dopey comment, but you take him and the CBC crew for what they are worth. You don't need to adopt their views. I find them funny and living down here, I miss seeing HNIC immensely. The NBC panels are brutal. Milbury is a dud without Ron.
So HNIC doesn't pay well and they make odd talent decisions. This is the result. I still think the quality of the production (especially montage man) to be superb.

I wonder if his obvious disdain for Iginla stems from NHLPA politics? He was a hardliner and staunch Goodenow supporter. Wasn't Iginla part of the group that ousted him?
