Only if it were extremely cheap.
If he were any good, the Jets wouldn't have been desperate enough to sign Olli Jokinen. I think that tells you pretty much all you need to know.

It tells me they didn't want a 20 yr old to be their best center.

1) Top-10 pick
2) Has successfully made the transition to the NHL
3) Only 21 years old
4) Is Russian, but the only public statement he'll stand behind is that he WON'T go to the KHL
5) Wants out of his current team, which likely drives the price below his real market value
This is pretty much EXACTLY the kind of player we should be gambling on. I've never heard anybody say the kid isn't going to make it, only that it doesn't seem to be working out in Winnipeg.
Tough to put a value on him, though. especially as he is unsigned. A late 1st/early 2nd rounder sounds about right.
Maybe a middle-6 player (ie Tanguay or Stajan), and a prospect (ie Agostino or Wotherspoon) for Burmistrov's rights might get a deal done... especially if the Flames eat some of the vet's salary.

A whopping 3 more points in 3 more games. Burmistrov had 10 points in 44 games, Backlund had 16 in 32 this year.
I'd rather gamble with our late firsts this year than trade them for Burmistrov.

It is still more points and he is 3 years younger.
Plus the point wasn't that shows that Burmistrov is a stud but that it is silly to say won't amount to anything. (especially with the projections thrown out about Backlund by many on this site.)

I think he is worth trying to get hold of, young player, still on the upswing who has yet to put it all together but has shown some flashes.
I wouldn't use on our first rounders on him but there could be a deal to be made.
He is only a RFA coming of his ELC, so the expected raise isn't going to be that high especially with his stat lines from last season. He could be a perfect breakout player on a low contract.

It's likely the Penguins pick will amount to nothing, and almost certainly less than when Burmistrov could bring. I'd offer the Jets that pick, and either low level prospect or a late round pick.
Could he be a washout? Sure, but still much less of a chance than expected late first round picks. Like Backcheck said this is exactly the type of player we should be going after (assuming he'd be optimistic about playing in another Canadian city).

In spite of him being a 1st in 2010. I wouldn't want to see a 1st round pick traded for him. Too steep, a roster player trade instead.

Burmistrov has the 3rd most NHL games out of all the players picked in the 2010 draft.
He is 4th in goals scored from the 2010 draft.
He is 5th in pts scored in the 2010 draft.
He hasn't exploded into a top line player but for the 1st 20 games as a Jet in 2010-11 he was one of the best of the Jet's forward. (9 pts in 11 games in Oct 2010)
Having Jokinen on the team impact him negatively in the same way that it messed up Stajan.
Baertschi was drafted a year later ... he needs 17 goals and 45 pts next year just to catch to catch up to Burmistrov.
Don't want to trade Baertschi for him but that is the category that he is in... Young guys
that might be all-stars in a couple years and have shown tremendous potential along with some inconsistency.
Is Baertschi worth more or less than Pittsburgh's 1st round pick ?
If somehow the Flames could off-load one or more of their smaller forwards for him it would be great.
Hudler and a 2nd/3rd round pick might get him. Maybe Tanguay or Stajan and Pittsburgh's 1st round pick?
In the Jet's playoffs ....... Their last 8 games where the Jet's went 6-1-1 trying to get into the playoff's Burmistov got top 6 minutes:
16:39
16:59
15:22
20:45
18:52
18:42
17:01
19:17

I am actually impressed so far. Haven't seen a "Do not want!" or a "Stay Away!" Yet. Unless I missed one this is pretty good for CP lol.

Who the heck is Don and why wouldn't he want Burmistrov?

He only had 14 PIM though. I'd rather we use our assets to go after Antropov, who is taller and had more PIMs than Burmistrov.

HaHa
If he and Cracknell and Horton replace 2 or 3 of the Flames softies there would be room for him on the Flames roster.
Somebody that plays a whole season and gets 2 PIM ..... that would be Wellwood and that is another thing.
We all know how gritty Wellwood is Hangs on to the puck and takes a beating but just don't want him as a Flame.

From the few viewings I've seen of him, he's clearly got a lot of skill (i.e. nice hands, skating, speed, etc)
...would trade Cammalleri for the rights to Burmistrov and a pick

Wow I'm surprised it took the second page for this crap. I think he's been ruined by being rushed by Atlanta and an average job by Noel. He will probably flourish in another city.
