The only negatives I hear about him are that he had no supporting cast in Brandon this year but still performed well. I also hear from several sources that the kid has Al MacInnis potential.
THN I believe made him sound like a guy with a big shot but a pretty average all around game with a low ceiling. That's just an opinion but there are too many good looking forwards in this 1st round to be looking at defensemen with questionable upside.

Would anybody trade #6 for the three Columbus picks if it was offered.
Neither team would do the deal in reality, but wonder if anybody here would do that.
So going by the latest THW mock draft that would be Monahan/Morissey/Burakowski vs Lazar/Klimchuk/Morissey/Burakowski/Compher.
I was thinking of a similar scenario. Can't see it happening, but it is tempting.
My dream scenario is moving the Pitt pick for 2 high seconds (Montreal?), if they fall in love with a particular guy. I really think there are plenty of similar guys at the end of round 1/start of round 2.
Wonder if Zadorov slips to the St.Louis pick. Seeing a few lists with him slipping to 20-30.
I certainly would not mind nabbing a big D man like that at 19-22.
Also hoping the Flames manage to grab a solid right handed forward in the first round if they pass on Lindholm.
Anyone have any insight on a couple right handers like Sorenson (3rd round likely) and Nastasiak (late first?- mid second?)
There are so many options with the STL pick... If Horvat or Domi drops, that'd be awesome but I don't see it happening... So I'd like to see Lazar taken... I know he's higher on most lists, but perhaps he falls.

Pulock's defence partner might be worth a look in the third or fourth round. Eric Roy has similar stats, good size and doesn't shy away from the rough going.

i bought THN draft preview last night and they undersell a lot of guys.
they think pulock has a low cieling but they still put him in the top 10.
they think lindholm has the potential to be a good 2 way guy, but will likely never score 80pts, and yet they rank him 4th.
seems to me they just err on the critical side. which is actually somewhat nice considering the pie in the sky stuff I've been reading lately.

I don't think they undersell the guys more they just show contrary opinions from scouts. A guy like Pulock may elicit 10 different opinions from 10 different scouts and they publish one that is maybe overly positive and one that is more cautious. The overall rankings I believe are their own consensus rankings but I agree it is odd how they edited the descriptions of some of the players as the writup for Lindholm doesn't make him look overly impressive yet they have him ranked ahead of Barkov and Nichushkin who bot get more glowing writeups.
I will say though that the one scouts comments that Pulock may struggle to be a top 5/6 defenseman is something that would worry me a bit. Defenseman seem to have much more of a bust factor and I'm still of the opninion that the Flames should use all three first round picks on forwards to address the glaring lack of forward talent in the organization. I mean for all the hype about Erixon he's really not been any better than Horak who was an afterthought in that deal and it seems that you can find pretty good defensemen out of the first round while it's harder to find top 3 forwards outside of the first round.

Good. There may be some hope that he drops to the St Louis pick!
Out of curiosity, where would Sam Reinhart fall if he were eligible this draft?
Right now I assume he would be 4th behind the big 3 but if you put him in after he played his 18 year old season like these guys I wouldn't be surprised to see him jump to the top of the list.
Hard to say since this upcoming year will likely be the most important in determining his NHL potential and draft slot.
Who would be shocked? This is how the team operated under Darryl Sutter and it's a recipe for failure. I hope for the best but expect the worst with this franchise and wouldn't be shocked if the Blues and Penguins picks are wasted on silly reaches. I'm not going to condemn the Flames for the Jankowski pick but a guy like Maatta would have looked really good in the pipeline and a lot safer of a pick as Jankowski still has high bust potential even a year after the draft.
Yep, Feaster and co. really shat the bed on that Baertschi kid...

He was a good pick but at the same time he kind of fell into their laps as he was regarded as a top 10 talent. The drafts have improved under the new regime for sure but I would like to see how they fair in an important draft of this magnitude before I pat them on the back.

Depends... is his hypothetical eligibility based on him being of draft eligible age (so older then he is) or based on the cutoff date being earlier (so same age as now)?
I'd say borderline top 10 for the first instance and top 5 for the second instance.
