I am guessing games will ship with the equivalent of a CD key. Not something that bothers me as I don't buy pre-owned games. Honestly, I'd like to see Microsoft really push digital distribution. That's the future. Steam does it amazingly well and it's so much more convenient.

I really like the console itself and the controller, but when it comes down to it, it's about the games.
I'll never use any of these new features (partially because they won't be available in Canada), but as long as the games are good, I don't care. I mean, that's all the 360 was when it first came out and it dominated the PS3 for 3-4 years because of games (even though it still sells better now).

Still hazy about used games and such. And frankly, if it is hazy I am assuming the worst? Not that it matters for me in the, I'll have both/all the systems anyhow.

What follows naturally from this is that each disc would have to be tied to a unique Xbox Live account, else you could take a single disc and pass it between everyone you know and copy the game over and over. Since this is clearly not going to happen, each disc must then only install for a single owner.
Are developers forced to create games that have these online features, and are thus not playable offline? They are not, Xbox exec Whitten said to Wired — but “I hope they do.” So the always-online future may come in incremental steps.

There is no way they provide Live for free. The host of the Gametrailers feed asked if the console will be required to be always online and was given an answer of no. For multiplayer and streaming yes. No mention of used games.

^^ Not exactly the best looking hardware. The kinect sensor is gonna look like a bit of a monstrosity on top of a tv.

For the always online part, MS kind of passed the buck onto the developers. They basically stated, no, you don't need to always be online, but we do have that feature should developers want to use it. So if EA decides they want to make their games always online, then they can do so.

What is up with those ugly lines on the body? The PS3 did it too with their 2nd slim version, and now the Xbox One is doing it. It really does make it look like a cheap 1980s era VHS player.
Edit: After looking at some more images, I just realized those are vents. Still ugly though.

Yeah, looks like used games are a no go. Gotta pay to install it on another machine.
No wonder EA shut down their "online pass" the other day. Sony stock gets a nice bump from the XBOX reveal.
EDIT: Install and register online I assume. So you will need to be online for offline games to work I assume.

Probably why EA decided to cancel their online pass system. We'll see what Sony and MS have to show in 20 days. They're gonna have to put on a good show at E3.

There are a lot of vents to dump heat . . . red ring lessons? Still no specs on the processor (speed) - memory ddr3 then? Just 8 gigs.

If you have to install the game and it can only be installed on one system you don't have to worry about the system always being online to check for DRM. You took care of that right off the bat with the one-time install.

I cannot believe they're going ahead with charging a fee to play a used games. The community is going to *flip*. I actually agree with it, but the angry mob probably won't. There's no mention of what the fee is, so it could be almost a non-factor if it's $1-$5. It seems very odd that they'd do this but Sony wouldn't... makes me wonder if Sony will announce something similar at E3.
The backwards compatibility is a letdown for fans. I was a little saddened to see I'd have to essentially re-buy old playstation games to play on the PS4, but I'd rather have that option than nothing.
You have to load all games to the HD? How big are these games? They only announced the one sku (500 gigs), so I'm assuming you can drop a TB into it or something.
Perhaps my expectations were just too high. Only a handful of CG trailers and imo not many of them looked a whole lot better than the CG trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins that was released yesterday. The Call of Duty gameplay was kinda cool, but I'm starting to think the big jump this generation will be in AI and game size.
