Not trying to call anyone out on this, but on another thread some people would take him over Malkin. Crazy talk .

I recall at the start of the playoffs that on one of the panels (I think it was HNIC but it might've been TSN) they were discussing whether Chicago would even do a Toews for Crosby trade if given the chance and they concluded that it'd be a very tough decision.

Toews is still an amazing player, but his reputation built off his amazing 2010 (Olympics and cup) isn't in line with what he actually brings to the table.

It seems as though the Wings are better without old, slow wingers like Bertuzzi and Samuelsson playing. Even in the Pittsburgh playoff run players like Morrow and Iginla have at times struggled to keep up. In today's game, I think the negatives of old, slow wingers outweigh any experience that they bring.

No kidding. I consider Toews to be a Top-3 player I would build my team around.

That said. He needs to start producing or the Hawks aren't going all the way. Probably not even past the Wings if he doesn't get his stuff together.

Toews is unbelievable. But any chitter chatter that one would need to "think about" giving him up for Crosby is idiotic.

Great atmosphere at the Joe tonight, it was fun to watch some playoff hockey and the place was rockin, which never happens in a regular season game. However, we went to cheer for Chicago, well that sucked. They played like crap and a typical Detroit penalty fest.

When was Toews ever known for his offense? Career high of 76 points

He's a great two way center, one of the best there is and still only 25

If I'm building a team from scratch, I take Toews over Malkin... And the fact he's not on the score sheet of late doesn't make me wrong, nor does it change my mind.

I take Crosby over him, of course, but not Malkin nor Stamkos... In fact, I can't think of any player off hand.

In my opinion the correct call was made in not allowing the goal, but the Keith roughing call was weak at best. Chicago is mean. Shaw is a [female private parts cleaning product]. Nasty slewfoot on Zetterberg. Bickell is stupid. If Detroit keeps their cool, they'll win.

Will defend my guy's captain here...Toews is getting a lot of attention from the Wings, good defense and some bonus hits off the puck, things that the 'Hawks should be doing to Zetterberg and Datsyuk, but lack the physicality through the lineup...SHaw and Bickell both seem to go too far when they try it...It has certainly neutralized JT to a large degree (plinking off of posts doesn't help either!).

Rozival was brutal in the D-zone, and the Wings have done a good job of hemming in the 'Hawks breakout.

Shouldn't come down to a waved off goal...but, this 'Hawk fan gets sick anytime Detroit gets the benefit of a "goaltender interference" call! That is the team that employed Tomas Holmstrom for his career...Karma should decree that the Wings should not be allowed to get that call until 2024!

Babcock is clearly outcoaching Q so far, and this is no surprise, Kitchen and Kompon are useless as assistants, and Kompon's PP is a joke...But down 2-1 is no need to panic, losing game 4, however, would be unacceptable...

Gotta say even though the Bhawks lost, their 100% PK through out the playoffs is amazing. This is what is keeping them in the game. For Detroit, their lousy PP could cost them the series but as we've seen we can never count out the Red Wing machine. Coach Babcock is a master.

That's the problem in NHL. It's what you have done in the past that resembles you, not what you're doing right now, and right now Toews is useless.

I wouldn't say useless as Toews always plays great defensively so still helps his team that way.

As well his team won their first round series, should win this series and Toews was great during regular season so tough to get too down on him when his supposed poor play hasn't really hurt the team.

Sure wasn't, and it was the right call.

Read Rule 69. Then Read Table 18 Section 5D. Then try to explain to me how that's a good goal.

He's still a very good player but IMO he doesn't have elite skills which is why I believe he's a little overrated. He's a guy you would love to have on your team because winning follows him around but he's not a guy that's going to dominate offensively on the ice. He's not a Crosby, Malkin, Stamkos, etc. heck he's not even Patrick Kane who has game breaking skills. He's more of an all around guy that has a good work ethic and he's one of those guys that I find difficult to place because there are a lot of players that have more skill but maybe not the intangibles.
