How could any coach choose other than the G hat earned a shutout in the semi-final??!??!?
Weak!
I hope they lose by 1 goal with Gerber letting in a couple of softies...that'll have the Swiss calling for the coach's head

According to tsn yesterday they rotated each game the entire tournament so they said it wouldn't change for the final.

It also got them spanked in the final.
I understand they rotated all along, but most coaches would ride the hot hand coming off a shutout in the semifinal.

But, by that logic, Berra shouldn't have started the semifinal because Gerber won the quarterfinal and was the hot hand going into the semi.

Berra finished the tournament with a 1.00 GAA and a .967 save percentage. He allowed 4 goals on 122 shots. He won all 4 games he played in.
That there, all by itself, excites me. I didn't watch a single game Switzerland was part of, but those stats are amazing. This was one of the more difficult world championships I think, and the Swiss made it all the way to the finals and he has those stats.

In sweden, it is tradition that the team that wins Elitserien, gets to wear golden helmets
I think it's a tribute to that

Very happy with the way this tournament and the way it turned out. After some trail and error (mostly error), Sweden found its game: solid defending, solid goaltending, and some star quality in the Sedins. It resulted in us winning the title as the host nation (first time that's happened in over quarter of a century).
Wish I could have been at Sergels. Oh well!

Not if the logic only applies to making an exception for the gold medal game. It's a difference in riding the hot hand in three games in a very short time versus just two. Gerber is 38 years old and probably not as well suited as playing as often too.

I would think even at 38 Gerber would be able to play 3-4 games in a row.

I only said the younger guy would likely be better suited, not that the older guy couldn't. It wasn't the main justification for my point either. Go find another post to poo-poo on now.

I was pointing out that Gerber is suited just fine for playing multiple games in the tournament.
I wasn't poo pooing on anything. If you have a problem with people responding to your posts perhaps you should refrain from posting.

You don't know that he's suited just fine for three games in four days at the end of a season at his age. Your "I would think" is just speculation. He's played a maximum of 43 regular season games since 2008 so he hasn't been a workhorse, many older guys accumulate injuries or recovery issues while others don't. Also, as I said in the first place all I said is the younger guy is probably likely better suited. I never disagreed that Gerber might be fine to play three or four games in a row, I just got drawn into your game of arguing about anything and everything possible for a bit.
I don't have a problem with people responding to my posts. I like your posts overall but I'm pretty sure everybody who doesn't live in your skin gets annoyed at you from time to time.

moon has good points, and some that are a little off base (like most posters) but it's the absolutes he speaks in that drive people crazy.

If he wasn't suited to play the games he wouldn't be at the tournament and wouldn't be played in important games.
There is no game and no need to go after the poster. I pointed out that Gerber was fine to play the games if that is what the coach wanted. Simple comment that didn't need the added on garbage about going after me rather than the post.
