OK, so it's a slow Friday. I should have joined the majority today.

Best reason in a world all companies should replace sick days with Personal days. You miss a day because you are sick but all your personal days are used up, to bad so sad you dont get paid.

Not everyone fakes being sick. My dad hasn't had a sick day in over 15 years.

A lot of companies have no short term disability though, and employees accrue sick days to deal with that kind of event.

I only average about 1 day/year for myself, but I will take sort of sick days if I need to stay home with a sick kid, usually those are wfh days anyways.

You know, I get that some people get mad when others are cheating the system, but your alternative just gives people incentive to come to work sick. No thank you, I don't want to be exposed to someone else's flu because they want to tough it out and not let a sick day infringe on their trip to Funistan.

If you can't trust your employees to be reasonable with their work time, fire em.

Come work at SAIT. 4 weeks vacation + 1 week at Xmas + 10 EDO days + 10 sick days.

But then you would have to work at sait...

I would guess that a lot of people don't receive sick days so if they call in they don't get paid.
Other workplaces require a doctors note before you get paid.

I agree with this for salaried employees. I have never worked at a place where sick days haven't been abused by some people. My longest stretch was just over 6 years without a sick day then I got destroyed by food poisoning and was out for 3 days.

How is this different with sick days instead of personal days? loads of people still come to work sick cuz they want to take days off when they feel fine, hence the topic of faking sick days.

plus with personal days people who don't use sick days don't feel they are getting ripped off by fakers.
