Kinda strange how that can happen for a flagship phone like that. Unfortunate really.

With the GS3, I run stock. Not interested in rooting or flashing ROM's as I'm happy with the experience so far. That might change going forward, but I'm good for now.

I'm getting great battery life even with LTE on with the latest Cyanogen nightly. I'll be happy with my GS3 for quite some time.

Likely would have a solid base to hold all the processing components with a screen that is flexible.

Of course it wouldn't be Samsung without cheesy acting but I think you see things like this at some point.

I way too happy with my S3 to want to spend for the S4, mind you once I get to play with it a bit and hear what my brother says that might change.

I think the S5 is whats going to be the next big phone, or at least one of the big ones out there, HTC, Nexus, etc.. will have something big on the horizon.

I am one of those guys that easily gets suckered into buying the latest and greatest. However the GS3 is the first device that I am more than happy to keep for quite awhile. It still feels new and snappy. Nothing else really interests me right now.

I'm quite happy to wait for the S5 or Nexus 6 or whatever.

I just had my Galaxy S4 training! I have to say, I was pretty impressed!

First off, the screen is gorgeous! I held up my S3 next to the S4, and there was quite a noticeable difference in how crisp the S4 was! I don't even have the best eyesight, but the difference was obvious.

In terms of the physical feel of the phone, it does feel a hair wider than the S3. My co-worker described the feel as being "more stable." The S4 also is really light, but it feels solid. In general, it does feel pretty much like the S3 but I like the S4 better.

The air gestures really do work (even scrolling with your eyes!), but I think they take some practice to really be consistent with. It was a real wow moment the first time I looked to the bottom of a webpage and the S4 scrolled!

There will be a feature (SmartSwap I think) that makes switching from any other phone (iphones included) really easy.

Also of note is Group Cast. Sharing content with other S4s and devices (even newer non-samsung TVs) is easy! It was a blast drawing all over photos together, and sharing music (each phone being a different channel of sound!) GroupCast worked seamlessly, and it was fun! Multiplayer gaming (we played poker!) was great! It all uses wifi-direct, so there's no data used.

The translation features are great (whole paragraphs of text visually translated, 3000 built in phrases- "His head is oval shaped"- lol.) and that all happens very quickly.

S-Health also sounds interesting once accessories launch.

Overall, as an S3 owner I was not sure was to expect. I came away more impressed than I thought I would be! The screen is amazing, and the S4 overall is just a really nice experience!

I'm passing on the S4 and keeping my Nexus 4. I just don't think its enough of an upgrade to justify the $700+

Should I get one though?

It's way past time to upgrade my iPhone 3GS .... but do I go to an iPhone 5, or the S4? Or even the Z10?

If I were highly integrated with Apple, with iPads, AppleTV, etc, etc, I'd probably be forced to go with the iPhone 5, but other that iTunes, I have nothing else Apple.

I'm thinking the S4 is what I should get. Or is a newer better thing just around the corner?

A 2 or 3 year contract is a big commitment, but I have enough Fido dollars to get any phone for free with a contract like that, so that is what I will be doing.

The S4 is a gorgeous phone. Go for it. Personally, I have always felt bored by iphones. The Z10 is good, but the app selection is awful.

If you do not want to go on a contract, and you have fido dollars, buy a Nexus 4 outright from fido (i think it's around $420 or so) or you can order it from google plaly for $390 after taxes and shipping for a 16gb. The good thing with Nexus 4 is that it is not locked to any carrier, and it will get the latest android updates faster than any other android phones.

It's not awful, it's nascent. That's what I keep telling myself

Every smartphone manufacturer should do this with their flagship.

Absolutely crazy. This should put away the rumors of Samsung doing their own thing with Tizen or whatever else. At the same time, I really hope somebody like HTC and LG get the opportunity to do the same.

Flash Cyanogenmod or another ROM based off stock. Or you could wait until the S4 Google Edition is out and the source released, almost guaranteed that there'll be a ROM based on it that will work on any S4

I believe JBQ has hinted that stock 4.2.2 Android will be available on Git very soon. He twitted some branches out to developers earlier in the day. For now CyanogenMod would be as close to stock that you could get. I would wait a bit as the rumors are that 4.3 is just around the corner.
