That is the average size of the top 9 forwards.

I am glad that some people can actual understand why I have become a pain always harping on how a top 9 with small players will not succeed.

No, you've become a pain because of your PIM related myopia.

I guess we are taking Monahan then if we are trying to get bigger. I don't see how a team can compete in our new div without size. There just isn't any time and space in the western conference.

Watching the Kings succeed with Sutter as coach really makes me wonder how well the Flames could have done if he had stayed on as coach, and instead taken a step back as GM. I know we weren't Kings good back then, but passing the buck on to Playfair/Keenan/Brent failed miserably.

Sorry about that..... Couture (poster-boy for gritty players that do not take penalties) bailed or was physically dominated on the turning point play of the game....

Am I the only person who thinks the Sharks played a pretty solid road game? I think if you play that way on the road, odds are you'll win more than you'll lose. The Kings capitalized on their chances and kept things to the outside incredibly well, but the Sharks had quite a bit of sustained puck possession for most of the third period.

I have a feeling the Sharks will play several solid games, yet find themselves down 3-1 or 3-0 in the series.

Kings in 5 or 6. Which will be hard to understand based on how SJ handled Vancouver. Let's be real here. One team has gone the distance and the other team has failed time again. That's the difference.

Probably why Detroit has struggled so much all these years. . . . Right?

I always feel that Darryl is the best hockey mind and person the Flames have had in at least 20 years. I'm always going to like Darryl and I like seeing the Kings win with his style of hockey.

He really seemed to over react to losing in the first round in that first year after the lockout. He fired himself because he thought he wasn't a good coach for the new nhl is how it seemed to me.

I also think he became a crappier GM once he was no longer a coach. His GM moves while a coach were good. He seemed to get progressively worse as a GM as he became further and further removed from the dressing room.

It really does make you wonder what could have been.

In spite being outshot 16-4 in the 3rd period, the Kings always appeared to be in control and the Sharks didn't seem to be carrying the play as much as you would expect.

Usually when a team is pressing to score they are the more dominant of the two, but the Sharks didn't generate a tonne of great scoring chances. The Kings didn't appear to be panicking and running around in their own zone. Instead the Kings had that attitude like "Oh, we didn't get the puck out. Well, back to work" instead of "GAH! We didn't get it out! Hurry! Somebody get it! Anybody! Oh Noes!".

Detroit . .... Lidstrom .... best, smartest D-man that was un-hittable in the history of the NHL

Even with Lidstrom they lost to the Sharks (twice) and the Predators... (bigger teams) in the last 3 years.

They always have had big forwards that got a lot of ice time

Holstrom, Franzen, Cleary Bertuzzi, Samuelson, Hossa, Albdekader

Then some guys that were the same size as the bigger Flames forwards but played much bigger, Draper and Maltby

Big guys that are on the ice all the time.

On defense this year they have

Kronwal 6-0 195
Erricson 6-4 224
Smith 6-2 195
Quincey 6-2 207
Kindl 6-3 216
Lashoff 6-3 208

Only Kronwall who is as small as Brodie or Wideman no one as passive as Butler and Smith

Our toughest d-man Gio is 6-0 203... Sarich is 6-4 207 but not on the ice a whole lot........ until the Flames had their lose Mackinnon surge.

5 straight wins for the Kings now. They appear to be in full beast mode again for these playoffs, and will be tough to beat IMO, especially with Quick clearly in "the zone".

That team is big, fast, excellent defensively, opportunistic offensively, on another level between the pipes, and extremely well coached.

Only game 1 but LA is just better at playing this style of hockey and their overall team size is an overwhelming force.
If Quick continues to stay rock solid this series could be a real quick one.
