I think that Buttons list is the only place that lists Cammarata in the top 100.
Really hard to find information on him and yet he has really good numbers.
Similar stature to Gaudreau.
Worth taking a look at with the 3rd round pick? or risk him dropping down into the fourth round?
|
Cammarata is extremely good and is a 1st round talent in my mind but will obviously drop.

Barkov had surgery and this was expected. What happened with Nurse?

What a shot in the arm that'll be to our prospect pool.
...not to mention the 6 other picks we have in rounds 3-7.
|
That is a tall order. Number 6 should be better or at least as good as Baertschi, but two guys that are close to him from a 22ndish and a late first would be a miracle in my opinion.

the more I think about it and see clips, the more I want Lindholm. He's got higher end skill than Monahan, IMO, and him lining up next to Baertschi one day... salivating.

Of course we traded that pick for Cammalleri.
I suppose we can't trade him for equivalent back now can we ?
Has that loss been properly grieved around here ?
Return for Iginla pretty well equal to what we gave up to get Cammalleri = GM fail

Please quit saying this.
Our second round pick will be #36.
A late first round pick will be #26-30.
A #26-30 pick is better than a #36 pick.

Reason: Apparently forgot we were #6, not #7.

Wouldn't our 2nd round be #36?

They could just as easily "miss" as they could "hit" with those two later picks, but this is a deeper 1st round than 2011 was so there will be some talented guys available with those picks, or "Baertchi level" prospects IMO.

I can't find anything about Nurse. Not sure how to read that though. Is his injury bad enough that it ruins his draft ranking so they're keeping it as low key as possible. Or it is insignificant enough to even mention and shouldn't affect his ranking. I tend to think it might be bad enough to hide for as long as they can.

Lindholm does seem more like the playmaker over Monahan, who seems more like a Jeff Carter type center. While a Jeff Carter isn't a bad thing, having a elite two way player who has the gift of the dish would be awesome going forward.

Monahan isn't even close to being Jeff Carter.
Think Ryan Kesler or Ryan O'Reilly.

He can't possibly be that good at diving.

Listening to Todd Button on the radio... sounds like the Flames include Nichushkin in the elite category along with Drouin, Mackinnon, Jones, and Barkov. Also specifically mentioned the talented goaltending available in this draft... maybe they might be looking at Fucale with one of the other first round picks?

Flames really need to snag a couple 2nd round picks as well. Im hoping we can do an "eat salary plus throw in a 2nd" type deal.

Has said nothing about either Lindholm or Monahan. Maybe their true intentions are to trade up and have no interest in settling @6. That Nichushkin comment is going to scare a TON of people for then next month and a half.

Tod Button:
- amateur scouting meetings this week with NA Scouts, Tuesday through Thursday. Already met with Euro scouts during U18 championships
- interviews at combine very important; physical stuff not so much; players they like will be brought in to Calgary for further interviews
- very important to nail this draft (Duh)
- most important is the on-ice scouting in determining the rankings
- Weisbrod defined the scouting criteria; scouts liked it
- high end of the draft is very high at every position; very deep draft; 50 to 60 guys could be impact players (paraphrasing)
- Jankowski developing right were they thought he would be; very strong year, progressing as expected
- John Gillies has exceeded expectations
- Sieloff warrior type player; will be a real good partner with a skilled D-man
- Kulak and Culkin just need time to get bigger and stronger
- Matt DeBleouw exceeded expectations

Jesus. That would be two (Nichushkin and a goalie) of the three elements to make up my worse case scenario for the first round.
