Default AO suggests Game 6 was rigged

http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Hockey/NHL.../20820206.html

Ovechkin suggests that the NHL wanted the series to go to game 7.

If anybody knows anything about a game or series being rigged it would be Ovechkin because how did he suddenly go from 22 goals in 21 games to 1 goal in 7 games. Clearly he was paid off to lose, how else can you explain it? Right?

I didn't see the game so I can't comment on the refs but if the league was doing it because of the "lockout, escrow, the league needs to make profit" stand point why would the NHL let one series get swept and 2 others only go 5 games?

If he'd put as much effort into his playing as he does into his whining it likely wouldnt have been a problem.

So it was the league that disconnected AO's controller?

Another reason why OV will never get enough voter from the writers to win the Hart trophy. Sour grapes from a loser.

I get the feeling that if he could, AO would go back to Russia and just play in the KHL.

At some point I wonder if he tries that move.. would the KHL break their agreement with the NHL for a player of his profile? Can they? Is there an international legal ramification for this?

Judging by the emoticon the OP used, I suggest you re-set your sarcasm detector.

I think the concern is that IIHF might not let guys in to the Olympics that do something like that.

He needs to be fined $1 million for that. The NHL shouldn't have any sense of humour about comments like that.

Fans and media commentators saying stuff like that is fine. Not players, officials or other employees.

The voting takes place before the playoffs start.

I have no clue if Game 6 was rigged or not, but your argument is not valid. Just because some other series were not fixed, doesn't mean that this particular one wasn't fixed either.

I hope the league fines him huge for this. Terrible optics for the league. And I hope he has a huge cry fest and goes to play 2nd tier hockey with all the 'just not good enoughs' in the KHL.

Huh? The argument is that if the whole point was to maximize profits the NHL would be fixing way more one series. If they wanted more money coming in do you think the Canucks are gone in 4 games?

He was a human wrecking ball in game 7 for bits at a time, but he certainly wasn't playing a team game or doing his team any favours. Must have fallen off his rocker emotionally

Again a russian translation so its tough to know exactly how and what was said.
I know it would be frustrating when the Caps were called on everything while the Rangers were the least penalized team throughout round 1 and going to 7 games. Even the commentators on numerous occasions throughout the series would make reference to the caps being called on something and the rangers would do the same with no call.
That said, if he is serious about his remarks, he does need to be fined. If it was a reporter taking bits and pieces of a lengthy interview and making it sound as if Ovi said it all at once then the reporter needs to be fined.

When did David Stern become NHL commish? Also if it were fixed the Rangers would have beaten the Devils last year, and likewise the only 4 teams in consideration for the Finals right now would be Boston, New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.
