Sorry...not true. Rangers have played keep away with the Caps and outplayed them badly since the first period.

Well, let's see.. worst case has PIT and BOS winning in the next round, along with the 'Hawks... LAK and SJS is irrelevant, so let's say LAK win.
30th PIT/BOS/CHI/LAK
29th PIT/BOS/CHI/LAK
28th PIT/BOS/CHI/LAK
27th PIT/BOS/CHI/LAK
26th ANA
25th MTL
24th VAN
23rd WSH
22nd STL
so not quite 21 yet, I don't think... am I missing a team?

5-0 loss in a game 7. That is pretty brutal.

Naw. Giving up a 4-1 lead in the last half 3rd period is brutal

If I'm the GM of Washington, I think I look long and hard at making a huge move by trading Ovechkin. The guy just can't be relied on in big games, gives up on so many plays defensively, and that rubs off on other guys in the room. After another Rocket Richard season his return should be huge, so I'd pull the trigger now before he fails in so many big games that no one wants him on their team

I totally agree... they could get a mint for him... I'd seriously consider it as well... I wonder which teams would be most interested??

I think DET would be open, but not sure what they'd have to give WSH... perhaps Ovi+ for the Sedins?? ... gives both teams a serious shake up... I see MTL as being a team interested as well.

STL is really an elite scorer away from being a powerhouse team, in my eyes... what would they have to pass along to land Ovechkin?

I could see the Islanders making a play. They're ready to start the transition from a team fighting for the playoffs to a true contender with the emergence of Tavares, they've got a lot of solid prospects to choose from, and they could easily take on Ovechkins contract after Dipietro gets bought out

Ovys $10 million salary for 6+ years would put too much of a dent in their supposed internal cap. Can't see it happening.

I am not sure that Leonsis would go for that. Not only does he seem to personally love AO but everytime I hear Caps fans or media talk it seems like he is insanely popular with Caps fans and especially casual fans who still think he is a top player in the NHL and may be a reason they go to the games.

Said it earlier...no team chokes in game 7's at home like the Washington Capitals.
Yikes. Could see the Rags suffocating the Bruins to death in the next round and advancing to the final four - amazing considering how their style of play just doesn't seem conducive to success given their personnel.

lol, good point. But at least the Leafs scored a few goals.
Ovechkin, I don't get this guy. He was hitting guys all over the ice, borderline charging at at times. Yes be physical, but not just for the sake of it. It's like he figured it was more important to dish out the devastating hits than put the puck in the net. Odd player to me, so much talent but lacks the will to find ways to win when it matters.

Sure and that was epic.
But Washington is 2-7 at home in game 7 now. That's incredibly bad - should be over .500 at least.
And this isn't ancient history either - now 1-4 in game 7's at home in the Ovechkin era. You can't blame everything on him but fact remains his teams just don't get it done in the clutch especially at home.
If he wins the Hart this year, this will mark the third time he's won it. His team has blown a game 7 at home all three times.
