Tiger Woods eliminated from the World Golf Championship Match Play. Always brings a smile to see stuff like this happen to the biggest baby on tour, Rory McIlroy also eliminated.

Bad start for Rory after switching over to Nike gear.

NBC's not gonna be happy with the biggest names gone on Thursday, ouch.

This is why we don't see many match play events on Tour.

64 players is just too big for a tournament. The match play in England (european tour) is just 16 guys so some of the big names meet each other right away.

Not a big golf fan but I've read that Shaw should have the Masters available in 3D on channel 301. You can see it in the listings and even though it says you need to order the program it should be free. It'll probably be side by side picture.

Is it safe to say Rory McIlroy is starting to find his game again? He (3 back) closed with 3 straight birdies today. He's hit 28-of-36 greens in regulation this week - that's best in the field.

In rounds 3 & 4 last week: 5 approaches inside 15 ft, 0 turned into birdies. This week: 8 such approaches, 6 birdies. Also on a tougher course this week too.

I don't know what Vijay possibly has to gain by suing the pga, http://espn.go.com/golf/story/_/id/9...ticks-pga-tour

More and more, that guy comes across as one of the bigger jerks in sports. I expect some rather intense heckling this weekend.

Getting kicked off a tour for intentionally lowering his scorecard was probably all the proof needed that he doesn't belong in professional golf.

Ya, pretty rough for Sergio. Like this young swede though. And as I type, Sergio puts it in the water again on 18. I only have so many crocodile tears for him.

Tiger's biggest win since 2008. Hell of a performance. His game is not as dominant as it was a dozen years ago, but you can definitely see revelations in his game that were being worked on through the past few years. His putting is as good as it has ever been, which is scary. Honestly, if he stays healthy, there is no chance he doesn't take down Nicklaus' record.

Sergio had a mental breakdown on 17th. After putting his first shot in the water he tries to do the same and ends up in the water again and i'm going WTF is he thinking. He will remember that hole for quite along time. Never nice to see a player lose it when they have a chance to win.

In the end I liked what Sergio did. He HATES Tiger and that's good for the game.
On 17 Tiger played it safe to the middle of the green. Tied at -13 Sergio could have done the same but 17 has been good to him over the years. He's birdied it in the final round each of the last 2 years and birdied it in 2009 when he won the tournament. He wanted to go for the flag and kill Tiger off. He wanted to hit the shot that Lingmerth hit afterwards but he must have mi#### it so in the water it went. What happened after doesn't matter, he had lost his chance to beat Tiger.

Which is why he will likely never win a major. This generations version of Colin Montgomery.

It was stupid decision at a critical moment. Put it in the middle of the green and walk off tied...see what happens on 18....particularly with the difficulty that hole holds as well.

Tiger has gone into the weekend tied with Sergio for the lead 7 times now...and not only has he beat Sergio each time, he has won the tournament outright. There is a reason for that...one guy is smart about how he plays and stays patient while waiting for his opportunities, the other is a dummy who worries about everything except what will win things for him.

But if a guy has beaten you 7 times and you have the chance on 17, one of your favourite holes, you gotta go for it. What he's done in the past agaisnt Tiger hasn't worked. Chances are small Sergio beats Tiger in a playoff when they're paired together so why play safe.

That was his chance. Unfortunately he hit it just a bit fat.

Twice! It had shades of Kevin Costner's "tin cup" for me. Not enough club for the line he wanted to be a hero but it ended with "give me another ball" finally it ended when his wedge reached the short part of the green (barely)

Garcia is a mental midget with a big mouth.

The 2nd and 3rd shot into the water doesn't matter, he had lost the tournament already.
It didn't work today but he always plays this course well by being aggressive and won it once before.

On the contrary, it's awesome to see for Sergio. Maybe if he wasn't one of the biggest chokers in the game when the chips are down he could complain about others.

Guy is one of the worst clutch players (especially putting) on the tour. It's hilarious.

I don't think he hit the shots fat. He said he hit them clean but went easy on both swings as he had so much adrenaline flowing.

I have no problem with him going for the kill shot- unfortunately, it didn't work. On the range, most of these guys could stick a 100 yd shot to within 15 feet the majority of the time. Different situation obviously when its 17 on a sunday at sawgrass.

I love #17. I have read a number of the players hate it and think it is too much of a circus, but I can't quite understand why.

The hole plays a maximum of 137 yards. Even players with a 20 or 30 handicap believe they should be able to put the ball on the green from that distance. So to see guys who can do miraculous things on the course struggling with a shot almost anyone can do (or so it feels like when watching), it really makes it interesting.

Especially when, as anyone who has ever shot for an island green knows, for some reason you tend to grip the club a little bit tighter, and the heart beats a little bit louder, and every action feels a little bit more alien.

Which local courses have island greens? I can think of Rivers Edge and Kananaskis.
