Isles played well, I wanted to see a game 7 but I'm ok with the Pens moving on. I think they are in tough against the senators and even more so if they make it through to the finals against pretty much anyone who comes out of the west.

Despite his personality the fact remains as Thomas wants to play next season someone will offer him a starting job. He's on the short list of active goalies to have won both the Vezina and Conn Smythe. That list is as follows: Tim Thomas... that is all. He won both only two seasons ago, and still seems to have some mileage left in his body.
As long as he promises not to be a distraction a team like the Islanders would have to be crazy not to look into signing him next season.

Wait, teams trying to buy their way to a Cup win? Madness! They should go with all volunteers, that's the honourable thing to do.
Things I've learned from this thread. The Pens are not very good, but the Islanders are a great team that just got beat in 6 games.

You should have learned that the Pens are clearly more talented, but lots of people were cheering for the team who was obviously working harder. That's pretty much the gist of this thread.

Was it really necessary to carry this forward to a new page?
Must be a slow night for useless unfunny images and gifs.
You try too hard Dion.

Too bad. I was kind of hoping for an upset with a very clear bias towards our third of the first round picks. Here's to hoping Otawa can pull off an upset.
Impressed with the Isles efforts. Tavares is going to be a force for years to come now.

Unless I'm mistaken the Isles are tolling his contract so he is already signed for next season.

Am I the only one to think that Iginla didn't touch the puck and it was Crosby's goal?

Just watched it again on NHL.com and Iginla definitely didn't touch it. Should be Crosby's goal. Strait put it in his own net.

I'd watch it one more time. Strait may have touched it, but the direction and speed that it went in the net with suggests it is definitely Iginla's goal. The way Strait swings his stick doesn't drive it into the net like that.
The first ice level camera angle from the right side shows he definitely touches it.
On a side note I still want to see a patented Iggy wrister and goal before these playoffs are over.

Came in to post about how super duper Dion was and found out the mods beat me to it!
Good-bye Captain Obvious!
This series was my second favorite after the LA vs Blues. I think Pittsburgh will need to turn it up a notch this next round, but I think they are up for this task. Here's to a Pittsburgh vs LA match up for the finals!

That just doesn't seem right for a guy with his accomplishments and contributions to the Flames. I sincerely hope he goes all the way.

Just got home. I live in Virginia now, so it was a pretty good drive to get to the game.
In person, the atmosphere was at least as good as it looked on TV. There didn't seem to be more than a few dozen Penguins fans there, so everyone was unified in talking crap to me, but pretty much all of it was good natured. Only one guy was acting like he wanted to cause trouble, but other Islanders fans pulled him away because "how can you not respect Iginla?" Lots of cool, old school hockey fans there.
They definitely need a new arena, or at least a better solution to the urinal shortage than setting up 10 port-a-johns outside of the regular bathrooms, but it was a really fun game.
Also, their ice girls are really hot.
