I really don't see any of the remaining teams beating LA.

When they have the lead, they don't give you anything.

I love watching both teams. Too bad this one wasn't a best-of-13 or something.

Great result for that draft pick, though. LA could repeat, solid team.

really hoping we get to see Chicago vs. LA. Should be another great western conference series.

That can only happen in the Western Conference Finals.

Round 2 is either:

If Detroit wins game 7:

Chicago vs Detroit
LA vs San Jose

If Anaheim wins game 7:

Chicago vs San Jose
Anaheim vs LA

LA will cruise by Chicago I think.

They are too deep, too big, too strong.

In games 5 and 6, after going down the Blues had such a hard time getting into the King's zone.

It will be tough for anyone to beat them.

I realize that, and even better if the stakes are higher.

I had my doubts when the playoffs started but I really think the Blues forced the Kings to play at a higher level. Kings players may look back on this series should they get to the Cup Finals.

Down 2-1 and the Blues couldn't get a shot in the last 4 minutes. That says a lot about the Kings. I want to see a Pit - LA final, a battle between Iggy and Reggie.

So worst case is the St. Louis pick going to be #22?
With Montreal also losing, that pick now becomes #21?

If Detroit can beat Anaheim then it goes to #20?

Am I doing this correct?

I don't think you actually watch the games.

Anyway, I am blown away at how resilient L.A. is. Quick handing the OT goal to the Blues on a platter and going down 0-2 to an extremely well coached and highly determined team would be first round exit time for any other club.

I hope not, that guy's nuts.

From reading on here earlier, I believe it is in the 19-23rd range.

Meaning right now it's 23rd and the more upsets there are it can potentially move up to 19th.

No. I posted this in the draft thread, might as well put it here too.

The Los Angeles win tonight guarantees the St Louis pick will be 23rd overall, at the latest. The pick can still move up a maximum of four spots (to 19th overall) depending on which teams make the Conference Finals.

For every one of the teams in green who make the Conference Finals, the Blues pick moves up one spot...

Chicago
Anaheim
Vancouver
St Louis
Los Angeles
San Jose
Detroit
Minnesota

Pittsburgh
Montreal
Washington
Boston
Toronto
Rangers
Ottawa
Islanders

A Detroit win on Sunday would guarantee the 22 overall pick because it would put 3 lower-ranked teams in the second round in the West, guaranteeing at least one goes to the final four.

Unless one or more of the Leafs, Rangers, or Islanders can come back and win their series, the highest the pick could go would be 20th because Ottawa would be the only lower-ranked team in the second round in the East.

This was the second best game I've watched at Staples Center. I'm quite pleased with the result. The second round makes me nervous. I'd really like to see Matt Greene back for either Sharks or Ducks.

Hope detroit wins then. Improves our blues pick (right?), and chi/det would be fun to watch.

The most amazing stat of this series was that there were nearly 500 bodychecks. Win or lose, those players are sore. This and the DET-ANA series are the most entertaining series of the playoffs so far.

it's going to be an interesting off season here in the midwest. I wonder how management will view this season. Last year they made it to the second round, but lost to the Kings in 4 straight. This year they battle the Kings a lot harder, but lose in the first round.

Six one goal games - can't blame the goalie or team defence. Just never got the timely goalscoring.

Macdonald was near invisible - he's a 'post-apex' UFA, so can't see him returning

The real Chris Stewart showed up for the playoffs; that is to say the useless Chris Stewart reared his ugly head. Leading scorer in the regular season who did nothing in the playoffs. I hope the Blues find a sucker who will be fooled by his size and his stats

Hitch said the 'home grown talent' need to find the next level for the organization to become a championship calibre team. I take that to mean Oshie, Perron, Berglund, Pietrangelo as well as the kids, Tarasenko and Schwartz.

Pietrangelo is the easy one. He's a stud and clearly on an upward trajectory. He can be the best in the game

Tarasenko is likely the most talented forward in that group. Had a very good rookie season until his injury. Assuming all the forward UFAs are gone, and maybe Stewart as well, Tarasenko should have his minutes ramped up. The Blues have three #2 lines. They need a top line talent who can take over games - Hope that is Tarasenko.

Schwartz doesn't have Tarasenko's talent, but has the heart and the grit to go with his skill. Plays like TJ Oshie, but probably more finish.

Oshie, Perron and Berglund is were things get interesting.

Oshie always brings it. He may be the least skilled of the three, but plays with heart and energy. The only problem (not his problem, the Blues problem) is he's not a first line talent, even though he plays minutes like a top liner. Was easily the best of the three in this years playoffs. Has a long term contract.

Perron is probably the most skilled of the three, but perhaps more one-dimensional. He's not a defensive liability, but no one would characterize him as a two-way player. Rarely kills penalties unlike Oshie or Berglund, but skill wise, is maybe the closest to being a top line forward. Since I blasted Stewart, Perron wasn't much better vs the Kings. Also has a long term contract

Berglund keeps showing flashes of what he could be. Big skilled centermen are hard to come by. His 82 game pace had him in the 30-35 goal range, which would be awesome if he could find the consistency to play that way over a full season. Wasn't great, wasn't bad vs the Kings. Capable of being a difference maker in the playoffs, but like many of the Blues, he wasn't. RFA this summer

Too me it's a no brainer to move Stewart. I think Berglund being a center, and that position being so hard to come by protects him, and he will be re-signed. Would not be surprised if they move Perron in a package with Stewart to help sweeten the pot to try and land a top line player. That would also open up minutes for Tarasenko, Schwartz, and another young guy like Jaskin

On the blueline, Hitch liked Leopold, but with Bouw's contract and Pietrangelo getting a big raise, likely no room for Leo to return. Personally, I think Cole is an AHL D-man, but I'm likely in the minority among Blues faithful. Russell isn't much better. Blues need to find some depth on the blueline, but with Bouw and Piet eating minutes, not the most pressing need

In goal, Elliot re-established himself in the last two months, and the playoffs as the clear #1 goalie. I suspect the Blues try and move Halak to make room for Jake Allen, who showed well during his 15 or so games.
