I too think he's a target of the Flames and I have a bad feeling he'll be wearing the flaming C. He'd be the new whipping boy, guaranteed. The guy is a plug who only plays well against the Flames.

Yes to Ballard!
Yes to Booth!
Yes to Higgins!
Yes to Kassian!
... was what we all said when they went to the Canucks.

No. And it's for the same reason I don't want any maple leaf or panther castoffs either. Don't want loser attitudes that can taint this team and Bieksa is about as big of a loser as there is in the NHL. Didn't he slag us last year during an interview or something? Just say no to Vancouver players.

No. He really isnt.
Remember, you're taking about the guy who basically gave up the tying goal and got beat on the winning goal. If hes a top 4 Dman in the NHL, its for a lottery team.
Hes got a big mouth and thats about it. He is going to be Vancouver's Chelios.

Don't compare Bieksa to Chelios. As mouthy and arogant as Chelios may have been at least he accomplished something during his career, and deserved to act the way he did.

I'm just saying that hes going to stick around longer than hes useful for just because hes a Canuck 'leader.'

Luongo's Twitter:
"Strombone @strombone1 7m So............ Shall we try this one more time??? #offseason"
At this point, does Luongo even hold trade value? Or does he have negative value?
If I were a GM, I'd rather go after Miller(1yr), Fleury(2yrs), Smith(UFA), Hiller(1yr), Fasth(2yrs), Thomas(UFA), Nabokov(UFA), Bernier(RFA), Backstrom(UFA), Halak(1yr)....
Honestly... is there a market for Luongo and his contract? I'm not seeing it.

I like the part where he blamed the league changing the way they looked at the game since their Boston series...that he already had his core in place and couldn't change it.
Translation: "What do you mean we can't dive our way to powerplays anymore. Not fair. I call shenanigans."

I wonder if Gillis plans on using a guy like Burrows to take a bite out of the trade market?

Isn't Luongo Luongo's biggest problem? From what I recall, he is restricting who the Canucks can trade with so if he wants to leave...
God why am I talking about this. Time to take a cold shower.
Also if Bieksa ever is in Flames silks, that will be the first day I am not a Flames fan anymore. I ####ing hate that guy so much. I have before never so passionately hated a player like Bieksa... although Kesler is a close second.
Good lord Bieksa's such a smug dbag loser piece of ####. I hate his face so much and his attitude even more.
woah... sorry... just got a little heated there.

With such a saturated goalie market I would be shocked if Luongo was not significant negative value in a trade. It's not that he isn't still a clear cut starter and a top goalie in the NHL, it's the contract of course that makes him close to unmovable. I expect it would take Luo + significant value in a trade that got back nearly the same money in a cap hit when you consider the cap is going down and most teams will be looking to shed salary. Something like Luo + a pick(s) or decent prospect (do the Canucks have any left to dangle?) for a player(s) with a decent to bad contract coming back.
Again with all the UFA, RFA and 1-2 year rental goalies available and the cap coming down, I can't see many teams wanting to tie themselves to such a long contract. The only other solution would be a buy out and that... that might be a tough pill to swallow.

Reporter: for whatever reason they can't trade you could you invision yourself coming back to Vancouver?
Luongo: not really.
I'm starting to feel bad for the guy...Set Luongo free!

They may not have a choice. They're already at next year's salary cap with only 17 players signed.

So, I guess Edler has been "at his worst" for his entire NHL career. Good to know.

Poor guy and his guaranteed 40 million dollars he's going to make on top of the 23 million he's made.
Woe is Roberto.

It would actually be quite helpful if Luongo is dealt to Florida. The Panthers are only one of a few teams that are likely going to end up lower in the standings then the Flames. If they were to acquire Roberto they would probably leapfrog us in the standings and put us in a better position in the upcoming drafts.
In particular the McDavid draft in two years. As of now what teams are likely to be in a similar postion as we are come then? Perhaps teams like Phoenix and Nashville, but Florida is the obvious one in my mind. So if we want to be picking McDavid come then it would be in our best interest for Luongo to help improve their position.
It's not like the Canucks are going to magically start winning once he's dealt, heck they might be worse off with Schneider starting. So there is no real reason for us to want Luongo to be stuck in that hell hole come next season.
