David Moyes set to be new Manchester United manager

Everton manager David Moyes is set to be appointed as the new Manchester United manager, following Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement.

An announcement is expected to be made on Thursday.

Pretty exciting game. I think Chelsea has looked a tiny bit more dangerous though.

Yep - lots of credible media members now saying he submitted a transfer request two weeks ago and had it turned down. Second time in three seasons from him.

Have also heard Chelsea's interest.

Hated because he was so successful. Suppose that's the definition of jealousy.

You gotta include the trophies he won with Aberdeen, notably a couple of leagues that broke up the old firm dominance and most of all winning the cup winners cup which was a major major trophy at the time.

A legend. Turned the club around and made them a serious football club from decades of failure and a holiday camp atmosphere. No doubt he'll be mentoring and available when called upon just as Sir Matt was/is to him. I'm undecided in Moyes only because of the size of the shoes he has to fill. Time will tell. If there's one thing going in his favour it's that he's cut from a similar cloth to SAF.

Manchester United have confirmed David Moyes as their new manager:

• Manchester United Board unanimously approves the recommendation of Sir Alex Ferguson
• Moyes to take the helm on 1 July
• Committed to long-term in 6 year deal

David, 50, has been the Everton manager since 2002, joining after a successful spell as manager of Preston North End.

Announcing his successor, Sir Alex Ferguson said:

"When we discussed the candidates that we felt had the right attributes we unanimously agreed on David Moyes. David is a man of great integrity with a strong work ethic. I've admired his work for a long time and approached him as far back as 1998 to discuss the position of Assistant Manager here. He was a young man then at the start of his career and has since gone on to do a magnificent job at Everton. There is no question he has all the qualities we expect of a manager at this Club.”

A lot of whining on the second Spurs' goal. I agreed Ade looked maybe a foot offside, but the linesmen also completely blew the next one when he called him off on the potential go-ahead.

I'm okay with the result. I thougt BAE was hot garbage yet again. Huddlestone has also pretty well played his way off the first-team again, I think. Also don't know why Holtby keeps getting starts, with Gylfi and Dempsey on the bench.

BAE is just such a glaring hole, that with a proper first teamer in his place, I think Totts would be a solid 3rd.
