I guarantee it. They treat it like an 'expenses paid' European holiday.

There is absolutely zero expectation to win on this team.

A lot is made of 'competitive spirit' of athletes but thats total garbage. They want to compete and win, but not all the time, only when they're being pressured to.

I'm not indicting them, most people are like that. I know that in my line of work if that April 30th deadline wasnt a hard one, lots of stuff would slide.

Its really simple. They're treating this tournament like shinny hockey. Its like a pro who goes to a beer league game, they're going to do stuff they would never do against other pros because they'd get slaughtered, but they'll try it out.

This is why they havent won it in a while.

That and too many Oilers. You're never going to win with that many Oilers on your team. They're like playing shorthanded. Negative value.
This. All day long.

Anyone know if TSN is streaming this game online?
It looks like they're only showing it on TSN 2 (according to the schedule on their website.)

What the hell has happened to Giroux this year? Turns the puck over at the red line, ends up in Canada's net.

This Dillon guy I've never heard of plays half the period and Brodie gets one shift.

I'm disappointed that Berra didn't get the start today for Suisse. Was really looking forward to seeing him in action.

Niedereitter kicks it in and it's tied 2-2.

A guy wearing #22 with a skate in the crease scoring? Lindy Ruff has seen that movie before.

Petri Kontiola.

Drafted by Blackhawks, did pretty well in AHL but never got more than a few games in the NHL. Has played in the KHL for the last four seasons and has done well for himself there.

Has pretty much carried the Finnish offense with 5 points in the first two games. First line center this year.

A real centre, maybe we should sign him.

I wouldn't get your hopes up. Weisbrod went over to scout and had him ranked as the 4th best defenseman in the league.

He did think that Antii Raanta looked like the best center outside of the NHL though.

That was a Calgary Flames shootout right there.

"No one makes 'pad-saves' anymore, lets just fire it into their pads...."

"Silly! People make pad saves all the time, the key is the soft wrister into the logo...."

That was a little embarrassing to watch.

Felt a little bad for Brodie on the first goal against. Giroux with an absolutely brutal turnover at center ice and Brodie is just coming on the ice for a line change, hustles to get across the ice but it's already in the net on a clean shot. Good to see he didn't let it get to him, not that he had a lot of time for the rest of the game but he did look pretty good when he was on the ice. Considering the limited time he's been given so far he does appear to be Canada's best puck moving defenceman, although that's not saying much.

If this team doesn't start treating these "lower tier" teams with more respect they won't do any better in the tournament than the past few years.

Two goals by Hudler has tied the game against the Swiss 2-2 after two. Reto Berra in the Swiss net has had an otherwise good game (29 shots against). I suppose he's glad he won't have to play against Hudler if he makes it to the Flames next season though.

Berra has been pretty good along the ice, but surrenders ALOT of pretty juicy rebounds. He has been good, but not great, and I expect that he will need a fair bit of work yet when he comes over to NA.

True, but he's looked really frustrated after giving up the rebounds, which I think is a good sign that it's not really typical of him. He looks incredibly quick from side to side despite being so big and covers the ice very well. At least I got a lot more hope for this guy after watching this game.

The IIHF site is terrible. I can't find box scores for completed games anywhere.

And man, the Swiss are on fire. I really wish the Flames would have cleared Baertschi. That would have been a fun experience for him.
