Speaking of sitting, I never realized until a friend pointed it out to me that Ken King sits behind the offensive zone net in the first row for the entirety of every third period at the dome. I thought this was really odd to basically have your bosses boss peering over the opposition goalies shoulder while you are trying to score in the third period.

It's perfectly fine behaviour if the President is involved in Hockey Operations (John Davidson as an example). The question is, do you want Ken King involved in Hockey Operations? If he's in these meetings then he is, end of story.

Considering the way Tambellini and Lowe have run that team into the ground, maybe he should of sat in on a meeting or two.

How would you know? You're not Ken King.

I don't have proof which is my point. Him sitting in on that meeting tells us nothing about whether he is meddling or not.
Not sure if I am included in defending King but thinking that he is not tying Feasters hand or telling him what to do is not fiercely defending him. I have no problem if he is let go or moved to another position but it shouldn't be based on some vague report of him sitting in a meeting with Lance Bouma.

My question was, when he was Pres. how do you know he didn't sit in, which is what you unequivocally stated. You don't get to answer the question asked with an irrelevant question.

Then I think comparing what he does with King to be not entirely useful.
Since, as I understand it, King is in charge of hiring/firing the hockey staff then it does make sense that at times he will oversee what those guys are doing in order to make a decision on the effectiveness of them.

What I said was that if King is sitting in on these meetings then he's involved in hockey ops. Oilers President Patrick LaForge does not sit in on the Oilers meetings and he's not involved in hockey ops.
Some people seem to be saying that King is sitting in on these meetings but somehow is not involved on the hockey side of things.

He still is President & COO and he didn't sit in on the meetings this past Sunday.

You don't have proof, but you can conclusively say this is different than Kevin Lowe pulling the puppet strings behind the curtains up in Edmonton?

Fair enough.
Obviously doing the hiring of the GM means that King is involved in hockey ops to some extent. What that extent is I think is the sticking point for most people here.

What if it is an owner sitting in this meeting and not Ken King? Is it meddling or is it keeping an eye on components of your massive investment in a sports franchise?

I am saying this incident is not the same as Kevin Lowe. Not sure where I said it was conclusively different than Lowe anyways.
There could be other things that make it similar to Lowe but in terms of the report of him sitting in on a meeting with Bouma no that is nothing similar to the Oilers/Lowe situation.

That might sound weird but I would sit there to if I was President, you can sit where you want so why not sit where you hope the action will be. Still though would be weird taking that shot then seeing your boss give you a dirty look while shaking his head no from behind the goalie.

Maybe it is the reason the Flames have exactly twice as many point at home(28pts) than on the road(14pts) this season.

King is not a traditional hockey guy, but I do think he has certain talents that spill over to this department. Feherty was interviewing Jack Welch (former CEO of GE) a few weeks ago, and Welch said that the most important part of his job and success was hiring the right people. He considered himself an excellent judge of character (once fired a high ranking exec for cheating in a round of golf). This is the kind of thing that I want from a president, regardless of his hockey background.
King's record is spotty, so he is on thin ice, but I have no problem with him getting a feel for the people in his employ, be they players, trainers, medical staff, coaches, or management.
