It is nice to see the outrage because it identifies a much bigger problem in Congress than just this gun control issue. There are powerful 'industries' with WAY too much influence over the government.

awesome that someone with brains, money, conviction and power is willing to stand up for what he believes.

I saw a bumper sticker down in Arizona that said:

"The only form of gun control should be a steady hand".

It seems Ron Conway, the angel investor responsible for providing a lot of the start up capital for Silicon Valley heavy weights like Google, Facebook, Twitter and Paypal, has made it his goal to oust the 45 senators responsible for shooting down the background check bill.

Quote:
"We will employ the most sophisticated social media campaign ever built to remove these people from office," Conway told The San Francisco Chronicle. "Our Congress has ceased to be representative. It is up to the citizens to remove those people who don’t represent them."

Really hope this works but I doubt he'll succeed. Although 91% of US adults do support universal background checks on gun purchases, how are you going to get single issue voters to go against their regular voting patterns? Or for that matter muster enough support in a demographic that is likely not to be as widely exposed to social media?

Just read that a few minutes ago. A 5 year old, who had a gun given to him as a birthday present? What the hell is going on?

Quote:
Riddle said she is devastated, but comforted knowing that her granddaughter is in a better place.

"It was God's will. It was her time to go, I guess," she told WLEX. "I just know she's in heaven right now and I know she's in good hands with the Lord."

Caroline Sparks' death comes after two other incidents in recent months involving young children shooting others. In early April, a 4-year-old boy in Tennessee shot and killed a 48-year-old woman, and just days later, 6-year-old Brandon Holt was killed in New Jersey after being shot in the head by his 4-year-old playmate.

Not really sure how'd you prevent this type of thing from happening. Mandatory gun training licensing like a drivers license? That'd never fly in the states though where simple background checks don't even get approved. Quite a few of the GOP senators that killed the bill spout reasons the right of the NRA's press release while openly admitting that they didn't bother reading the bill.

Luckily they are paying in the polls for their mistake so many there's hope they get kicked out next term.

Best comment I've seen, but only if you like your humour a little dark

"If his sister had a gun she could have stopped him"

Stricter safe storage laws wouldn't hurt in this case.

Would at least have grounds to charge the parents.

I also have to say I am now 100% supportive of having to pass a basic IQ test to have children. These parents should be sterilized.
