The Flames should make a deal to Florida move down to 6th and the PIT pick.
Seth Jones will be 1st overall to the Avs.

If Florida passes on McKinnon and selects Barkov or Drouin which is a real possability.

I would make the same offer to TBAY, but not beyond that.

If memory serves, the NYI made a team an offered all of their picks one year for one player, I don't recall who it was, .... maybe Crosby ..... anyway .... they got turned down by the other team ......

Why would the Panthers want to go all the way down to 6th? Makes no sense for them.

Are trades like that common in the NFL? Sorry, I don't follow armoured rugby.

Islanders were so confident that Columbus would do it that they didn't even interview the player they ended up taking (Reinhart).

I don't think Florida would do it.
The Oilers are complete idiots if they did not try and do this trade with the Islanders.

I agree, the fact that they drafted another forward first overall was absurd enough, they needed D, Griffin Reinhart would have been an excellent pick for them, not to mention doubling up their picks for every following round to load up on depth.
Surprised The offer wasn't on the table...

No, not common. You do, from time-to-time, see a team give up their current year's first rounder and second rounder plus their next year's first rounder to move up to draft who they believe will be an elite quarterback.

I do vaguely remember in 1983 that the St. Louis Blues didn't have ANY draft picks because of ownership issues and people saying that this hurt their depth for a few years.

I think that giving up eight picks for one would hurt the Flames depth for too many years. Not to mention potential assets to maybe trade down the road.

No, just because the Flames are not just 1 player away from being competitive..they need much more than that.

I would not pull a Ditka.

This draft is top heavy through the first 8 picks. We will get a very good player at our slot and therefore doesn't really warrant trading assets to move up.

That said, I think Mackinnon and Drouin are going to be absolute beauties.

If it were a different draft year, I would consider moving up to get that marquee player.

It was after the Oilers made their pick that Snow called Howson. I have no idea why they wouldn't have called Edmonton. I think they would have considered it since they really liked Reinhart.

Yeah let's take 7 lotto tickets and turn them into one.... Said no one ever. When you lack depth in an organization, you don't put all your eggs in one basket. If I were a team like st Louis or la or chicago I might trade my whole draft for one player to put me over the top like Boston did when they got seguin. But otherwise not a hope.

Not like that but there have been some like that. Atlanta traded 2firsts and a second rounder to get Julius jones, Washington gave up about the same to get Robert griffinIII and Dallas traded an rb for a ton of draft picks, in which they drafted 3 hall of famers.

The Oilers like any player who plays for the Oil Kings. Pretty sure their draft "strategy" is to use THN's magazine for the 1st overall, then check the Oil Kings roster for any eligible players after that.

If only they had more "tier 1" paying STH fans they could afford to employ scouts in other places. Mike Comrie not paying back his bonus set them back financially for a long time.

Keep the 6th pick. My question is how far up could the Flames trade up with the Blues (20ish) and the Pens picks. Could you get into the top 10? Get 2 good offensive players would be great.
