Personally favour Monahan because I feel a big strong 2 way playmaking centre will be beneficial to barschi. But I would also just as happy with lindholm
Richard Spacey had a horrible poker face you know he's taking Jones #1
Mackinnion looks like a perfect fit for Huberduea in Florida
Drouin a good fit on LW in Tampa
Nashville could go with either Nushkinin or Barkov
If Nashville takes Nushkinin then Carolina could possibly steal Lindholm, Zarodov or Shinkaruk
I believe Lindholm is a good RW/C fit, but Monahan is more of a leader and 2-way player
This being said I feel Feaster should go with his gut on this and look at what our team needs later rather than now.
And for the love of God don't pick Domi at #6 or I will punch a wall
I think MacKinnon would be enough for Florida. They want that center, badly. This draft lottery works out perfectly for them because I think they were going to pass on Jones anyway. We can pray that Barkov or Drouin falls, I guess, but not MacKinnon.
I really don't think it's close. Lindholm playing with speed, super skill, with a toughness edge has my vote. Sven and Lindholm would have teams with their jocks around their ankles
Yup. Because this team doesn't need players like Jonathan Toews or Patrice Bergeron
Agreed why are there people who don't want defensive forwards?
It's not like the Flames have any.
A center who blocks shots, wins defensive zone faceoffs and helps out down low. That would be a nice change. Our last Selke candidate was Conroy in 2002.
The Canadian head coach also had some acclaim for 18-year-old centre Sean Monahan, when the coach remarked, "his hockey sense, in my mind, is at a National Hockey League level right now."
"He has elite hockey sense," Spott said of Monahan. "He is just one of those players who can play in any situation - 5-on-5, 5-on-4, on your [penalty kill]. Sean has that innate ability. He is going to be an elite NHL player. There is no doubt about that."
These comments take the cake for me. Monahan or bust.

High praise, those are the kind of comments you like to hear from coaches.

Would take a lot more than Tanguay to get that done.
You think? Tanguay is signed for years at a reasonable 3.5 per, Nashville's need is offence, Lindholm is probably really high on their list, I imagine immediately after Barkov, they love Swedes, they're very weak on the wings .. if Tanguay isn't enough to get that deal done then Barkov is so much better than Lindholm we should be willing to sell the farm to get him.
And Ashax is simply saying that it would take overpayment to get them to trade.
A trade means giving assets to get assets. If you overpay, you have fewer assets than when you started
Agreed that it will take an overpayment to trade up into the top 3 draft spots, but I have to agree with Tangerz post about Jonathan Drouin. He is not massively over-rated at all. Drouin has probably the best pure skill in the draft, it would be a shame if we didn't try to trade up for this world class talent. Another poster was bang on, when you look at how Drouin plays, he is very similar to a young Claude Giroux. I know he rates lower than Seth Jones and Nathan MacKinnon in other facets of the game, but in terms of pure skill/talent, there is no one in the draft better. He is just pure silk, but does have that fiery competitiveness you don't see in every flashy player. I would be thrilled to get him, but once again I temper that by understanding and agreeing with you and a few other posters, it would take an overpayment to get there. I just think his skill is just too amazing to pass up on, he will be a legitimate superstar in the NHL.
On a side note, According to a TSN arcticle, 4 out of 10 Chief Scouts of NHL team's reportedly ranked Drouin ahead of MacKinnon at 2nd overall, and 1 out 10 ranked him 1st overall, so at least there is some credibility to Drouin being the best. Mind you, obviously more scouts ranked the other two higher, it at least lends itself to the conversation that he could be the best.

Tanguay could likely be had for a reasonable price if a team wanted him enough to make an offer. I won't speculate on what exactly it would take, but even if you ignore the fact that some consider him buyout worthy (not myself, I think he has some value) I just don't consider his value enough to swap from a 6th to a 4th overall pick. I would think it would take one of our other first, if not more, and Tanguay is not worth a first, even a late one.
I'd be very happy with either & I don't have enough perspective to say which I prefer. Leaning towards Monahan as he may be NHL-ready. They're both players that we could definitely use, and one or both of them will be available at 6 – if they're not it means one of the top 4 favourites falls to us.
It's basically trying to decide what's better, a guy that could be a Markus Naslund/Peter Forsberg type guy (1st line 70+ point guy) verses a Patrice Bergeron/Ryan O'Reilly type.
Each has their strength's and weaknesses, but one thing is guaranteed and that is that either would be an awesome addition.
