I could honestly see Nashville taking Lindholm at 4, or trading down to 5,6, or 7 to get him and a pick. They seem to be collecting young swedes in Forsberg, Ekholm, Aberg, etc.

In that case, we should trade up to take Barkov. Not sure if we'd have to trade one of our first rounders as well, but if that's what it takes I think Feaster should do that. Barkov seems to be a pretty big step up over Lindholm or Monahan.
It's a shame we don't have a second rounder to try and move up with, as that might do it if the Hurricanes do want Lindholm or another player that will be available at #6.
One would have to think both Carolina and Colorado would want a stud defenseman, Colorado will take Jones but what scares me is Carolina will do a highest bidder auction between Calgary/Edmonton and Buffalo for their 5th pick.
I think this draft is going to extremely crazy when it comes to trades, Feaster needs to explore a trade with Florida for the 2nd pick, it may take something that most here wouldn't like but to get a potental generation talent like Mackinnon it might be worth the risk.
To make it happen it probably would take something like this.

To Calgary:
2nd overall(Mackinnon)
To Florida:
6th overall, other 1st and TJ Brodie
Thoughts?
Absolutely not Brodie. Pick between Cammy, Tangs, Hudler, Wideman and even willing to trade Glencross.
I think we need to get Mackinnon or Barkov. So long as the deal does not involve sven or bodies I would be ok with a deal that seems like an over payment.
Lindholm's YouTube clips show a guy playing the game at an extremely high speed and intensity. His decisions are quick and deliberate, he looks like he distributes the puck exceptionally well. He's got a physical edge to him, and his skating is top notch. He looks like a truly dynamic talent and I hope the Flames are able to secure his services come June.

Lindholm is a talented centre with excellent vision and playmaking ability. He has soft hands and excellent stickhandling. Lindholm has patience with the puck, and is very creative, able to thread passes through small openings. While he is more of a playmaker than a scorer, his shot is decent, and his release good. With a little more bulk, he may be able to add some power. He works hard in the corners and wins battles, but again needs to gain a little bit more muscle on his frame for NHL hockey. A key asset is that Lindholm is unafraid to go to the dirty areas of the ice to make plays though, and loves to finish his checks.
Quote:
Lindholm has an effective defensive game, as his willingness to throw his weight around extends to the defensive zone. He works hard on the back check and understands his defensive responsibilities down low. He works hard on the backcheck, reads the play well, and effectively handles his responsibilities. His complete game is very well developped for an 18 year old player.
Monahan has all the tools you’d want in a centre. He is big and powerful, with ideal NHL size. His stickhandling is very good, and he protects the puck well. He is able to make plays, off the rush, in the cycle game, and get in quickly with a strong and aggressive forecheck. Monahan drives the net hard, and gets to the dirty areas, where he can use soft hands to score goals. He also has a very good wrist shot, and a quick release. His passing skills and vision make him a great playmaker, and he is able to make his linemates better.
Quote:
Monahan’s two way game is amongst the best developed in this draft. His face-off ability is very good, and he was voted by OHL’s coaches as the 3rd best faceoff man in the Eastern Conference, impressive for a draft eligible player. He uses his size and strength effectively in the defensive end of the ice, and contains opponents off the cycle. He cuts down passing and shooting lanes, and is not shy about blocking shots. Monahan’s high effort level and commitment will make him NHL ready sooner rather than later.
And of course all credit to Commandant for the fantastic reviews.

Nichuskin is probably the highest risk/reward but I don't think the Flames are in a position to gamble so the safe bets are Monahan or Lindholm. We do need a strong D but that could be one of the other 1st round picks.
Having to debate between Lindholm, Monahan and perhaps Barkov if he slips is a pretty awesome position to be in.
I like this sensation.
Additionally, I made a gif the other day from that clip Miniac posted, from 2:25 to 2:30. He receives the puck behind the net, banks it off the end boards back to himself while spinning to avoid a check, brings it to the front of the net and puts it on net which results in cross crease "pass" for a tap in goal.
Is nice.

Compared to Fosberg who had 102 PIM in his last 50 games in Sweden before he joined Quebec.
Even the Sedins had 22 and 28 PIM in their last year in Sweden.
Seems to be extra soft even for the team the Flames have become.

Sigh..
Elias Lindholm recorded 58 hits this season. Although that may not seem like an extraordinary amount in comparison to NHL standards, that total placed him 29th overall in the entire Swedish Elite League, and first among junior aged players by 17 hits.
Taking one minor penalty all season suggests to me that he is a player with both great on ice awareness and discipline.
He is not soft by any standards, and in fact is far from it.
