What I do not like is if your battery is dead you have to connect the 7 pin to bring it up enough to attach the trailer to your hitch. I left a light on and went through this a few weeks ago which is why I installed the battery shut off.

I have the power jack, my trailer is a bit high and needs a lot of turns for the tongue jack, so the power jack works well - lazy as well.

For the stabilizers, again, because it's so high, I use a nut driver attachment on my cordless drill. Then use the manual jack to snug it up or down.

Not to derail this thread but is there anywhere else in town where you can get a proper 12000-15000 BTU Portable Grille other than BBQs Galore? I went in cash in hand to buy the broil king Porta Chef Pro and after 10 minutes of nobody being able to pry themselves away from not helping anybody and checking their text msgs I decided it was best I left before I had a stroke on the floor. If anybody knows where I can find this BBQ other than this place it would be appreciated!

I don't know about that, the first link is $250 for 12,000 BTU and the porta chef is $130 for 14,000 BTU so comes down to preference I suppose. The second link looks great, but $400 for a camping BBQ is pretty pricey.

The problem is we do not always camp where there is a table for propping up the Weber. Atleast with the Broil King it has its own legs that are removable for storage in the side pocket of my travel trailer.

I guess if BTU is the only criteria you are going to use to judge how good a BBQ is, then sure - the Porta Chef is your man.

I used cheap portable BBQs for years not wanting to spend the cash on a proper name brand and now that I own a Q220 I kick myself for not getting one sooner. It's an awesome BBQ that is built amazingly well, has a huge cooking surface, even heating and I love cooking on it when we are out.

Another vote for the Weber Q series. I take one on the plane to Cape Breton!

Just curious, what did they set you up with, and how much did it cost?

I'm also a fan of the Weber grills, I have the 120 and the 220. They are more for a reason. I also have the stand for it, it's pretty cool.

Just over a week to go! I picked up the extra battery my wifes Uncle was giving us, and unfortunately my plan to parallel wire my 12V and his 12V won't work since his battery is a group 31 and mine is group 27. Oh well I will just have to swap the battery cables over when one battery gets low, that's the price I pay for a free battery. My new battery charger works like a charm on both of the batteries, life is good.

Now if there wasn't this pesky fire ban....

Yeah, will be dragging the 5er home this weekend to open it all up and get ready for the season - really looking forward to this year.

Just bought a surge/voltage protector that I will need to install as well: http://www.progressiveindustries.net/ems_lchw50.htm

Managed to make it out last weekend for the first trip with the new truck and trailer. Got out to Mclean and was impressed how well it was maintained.

Truck didnt even seem to notice the trailer except for on big hills.

I was unaware of the fire ban, that is a pretty big bummer as I was going to head out next week monday for a week

I Need some help, as I am inexperienced.

I want to stay at Blue Rock Campground which doesn't take reservations. When would you have to be there, to get a site for May long weekend? What are the tricks to guarantee a spot in these non-reservation sites. I was thinking of heading out Thurs right after work.

Hey pylon,

I have camped at blue rock several times and like the campground. Normally blue rock does not fill until sandy mcnabb is full.

Sandy is always completely packed Thursday around 6 so I would guess any later then Thursday at 8ish and you will be SOL at blue rock.

I am actually going out Monday to sandy for the week so if I come into cell range I will post in the thread and update how things are out there.

For May Long? Leave now.

Seriously though, you'll need to leave earlier than Thursday night for sure.

A lot of people drive their trailer up Wednesday night - May Long is probably the worst weekend for needing to be extra early.

There aren't any "tricks" anymore, your spot needs to have at least a fully built tent on the site to qualify as being reserved, you can't just drop a lawn chair off.
