Dickey was cruising until that hit. Very discouraging to watch. They need to someway, somehow find a way to string a bunch of wins together.

Swept by the Yankees who are missing Granderson Jeter and Texiera. Just so disappointing so far.

I don't understand but they should be better then this. Yes losing Reyes is huge but others need to step up. When does AA start looking at maybe replacing Gibbons?

Disappointing series, were in all 4 games but found a way to lose each one.

Here's something pathetic.
We are 1.5 games up on the Houston Astros and 2.5 up on the Marlins. Those are the only teams worse than the Jays right now.
Honestly, if we don't take 2/3 of the next series, I think they should fire Gibbons and the entire coaching staff.

As most people know here I am far from a Jays fan but blaming Gibbons makes no sense to me. I can't see how this team is being mismanaged and the problem with this team is for the most part it was built on hype and the hope that everyone has career type years.
While 3rd last wasn't realistically thought not dominating was and for the most part everyone is playing at a level that shouldn't be too shocking. There isn't a guy on the team performing at a level that is really hard to explain. The hype was nice but unrealistic and it isn't surprising the Jays aren't running away with anything.

I know you're not a Jays fan and they have been playing awful but that one part is a little off base in my opinion.
Encarnacion hit .280 and .270 the year before. He is currently hitting .227. That is way below even his career average of .263. I would say that he is playing at a level that is fairly abysmal and well below his abilities.
Jose Bautista had OBP last year of .358 (right near his career of .360) and the year before .444 and the year before that .446. Right now his OBP is .280. I would describe that as playing at level that is fairly shocking.
Brett Lawrie is pretty much a .300 hitter in the Majors and is batting .213. Melky is hitting below his career average, same with Izturis, and Bonifacio.
I would actually say it is fairly shocking that pretty much every single Blue Jays batter is hitting well below their career averages.

I'd have to agree, Bautista, Aren Cibia and Encanararcion are still on pace for 35 homers a piece by year end. Melky has been a huge disappointment and we don't have a lead off hitter - doubt lawrie will do much there either.
But, there is no way in hell we should be this bad or this far back, the piece-meal yankees ran through us like this was 1999.
Is Tim Johnson available? or is he on operations in Afgahnistan atm?

The guy is off the juice. Cabrera was always a risk because chances are that he isn't going to be the same player he was when he was juiced up.
I believed this team was overhyped but this start is worse than some of the lesser teams of the past decade. Too early to place the blame on Gibbons as the team just hasn't got any breaks. It's a long season and some of the bounces that aren't going their way in April will go their way in the future. If they are far below .500 in June then it's probably time to panic and look at possibly changing things up as the Jays have too much invested in this season to sit back and hope things turn around at the last minute.

I don't know how much of the pitching thing can be pinned on the manger though. Lets face it Morrow, Buerhle, and Josh Johnson have all pitched awfully thus far. Even Dickey is throwing below expectations. When 4 of your 5 starters are underperforming, and 3 of them to the level they are....you will not win games.

Not sure why anyone expected the rotation to be lights out anyways.
Dickey has had 2 great years, and one above average year in his CAREER. And suddenly based on that we expect him to be lights out and win 20+ games again?
Hello Cheechoo.

Um, you do realize Dickey wasn't always a knuckleballer, right? And how it's idiotic to even consider his career numbers prior to his transformation?

Very few teams have 5 starters that have a better than average chance of tossing a sub-4 ERA.
I don't know how many teams can also say they have 5 starters who were top 10 guys in their respective leagues in any given season. Romero, Dickey, Johnson, Buerhle and Morrow have been top 10 pitchers before.
Did we expect all of them to reach those heights again? Of course not, but that mix should at least get you some pretty good starts.

He has been using the knuckleball since 2006.
He sucked with the Rangers, Brewers, Twins and Mariners before having a couple years of success with the Mets. Hardly a reason to expect him to be your ace.
It is hilarious how people get so defensive when you say that the Jays were completely moronic to make that trade for Dickey because he simply isn't the caliber pitcher people think he is.
