I was leaning towards Monahan because of my pro-Canadian bias, but I'm starting to like Lindholm more now I think.
Just hope whoever we pick is awesome and whoever the oilers pick right after us busts like no other bust has ever busted.

Ok then you massively over-rate Drouin
And Ashax is simply saying that it would take overpayment to get them to trade.
A trade means giving assets to get assets. If you overpay, you have fewer assets than when you started

why do you feel he plays physical ?
2 PIM in 48 games????
Compared to Fosberg who had 102 PIM in his last 50 games in Sweden before he joined Quebec.
Even the Sedins had 22 and 28 PIM in their last year in Sweden.
Seems to be extra soft even for the team the Flames have become.

The debate over who take take is going to rage for two months. As for the Flames going off the board. I feel Feaster made it pretty clear that wasn't going to be the case with this pick. Most teams should have the top seven ranked rather similarly with small changes due to positional needs.

Lindholm is not soft, and saying he is because he has low PIMs is silly.

That's not entirely true. He's played with Ottawa's first rounder from last year Cody Ceci most of this year prior to his trade as well as with overager and also point a game Tyler Graovac before his trade too.

People are basing it on his highlight videos from the WJC where he was very physical.
Would not be surprised of his style was a little different playing against men.

And to top it off hes Canadian. Monahan for sure.

I came here to say exactly this. I like the 6'2" aspect. I think he would be on the team next year.

Ugh. Brynäsare...
I'll take Monahan.
(This post is solely based on my feelings toward Lindholm's club )

There's plenty of SEL footage of him out there.

Are you the same guy that argued that Brodie is a bruiser and that Tanguay is not soft???
to play 48 games taking 1 minor penalty means that he is soft... full stop.
Hayley Wickenheiser had 22 PIM playing in European men's leagues.

No sir you are definitly under-rating Drouin or you havent seen enough of him. Anyways I know what he's saying but I don't believe its a mistake if you know what you're getting. This is our best opportunity to draft an elite superstar. With the multiple first round picks in play we could definitely get something done if we throw in some other pieces.
I guarantee you that you will look back at this draft if get Monahan or Lindholm and say why in the world didnt we trade our other picks to move up a couple spots?

I doubt that. You are giving no credit at all to Monahan or Lindholm.
Yes Drouin would be sweet but to get him it will cost the 6th + Sven. If not that then 6th and 2014 1st. Can't trade 2014 first, it could be top 3.
I don't see all 3 picks getting the move to the top 3 for a chance at Drouin.

Just read an article on Lindholm's Swedish club's website. The article talks a bit about how they will place more of an emphasis on individual training, and then goes on to talk about Lindholm's own training.
"Agility and pace are two things I think that I should improve"
He also talks about improving stamina.
The article then talks about how there have been scouts at almost all of his games this season and how he felt about it. He says that you don't really think about it when you're on the ice.
He also says that he's not thought too much about the draft, but that he probably will think more about it when it gets closer.
He also says that he's going to do another year for Brynäs in the Swedish league before he heads over to the NHL. He says that his goal is to play in the NHL but that he wants to feel ready before he goes over the Atlantic and tries to get a spot.

Yes or no question (that we all know you won't answer):
Have you ever watched Lindholm play outside of highlights?

This is Calgary. Not Florida or some market where hockey is 10th on the depth chart, right after midget jai-alai, and you need a dancing bear to draw fans. Butts will be in the seats as long as the team tries hard. Butts will probably be in the seats even if they don't.

Carolina is one team that hasn't been afraid to surprise us at the draft taking guys who aren't necessarily consensus guys.
Let's hope they swing for the fences with Nichushkin.
