Interesting, HockeyDB listed Lindholm at 1" and almost 10 lb smaller

I think we should prioritize in that order. Draft either the #3 North American forward or the #2 North American defender. The scouting is a lot more solid and trustworthy in the CHL.
Of the 3 Lindholm is the smallest at 6'0". Nurse is 6'4" and Monahan 6'2".
Make the safe bet. Draft a big Canadian out of the CHL.

I've never seen either center play, but all you fine folks have me coveting both of them.
Would be awesome if we could move up to Buffalo or Edmonton's spot and snag the pair.

No, I don't believe so.
It has to be a trade they simply cannot pass up.

I'm very skeptical on Monahan who seems to be the guy most have pencilled in as the 6th pick. He's someone I can definitly see being a bust, a big tall forward who can dominate juniors with his size but not being able to translate that at the NHL level. His stats aren't overly great which really make me nervous about picking him.

I think if Feaster could offer a couple players and a first trade for the Oilers 7th we could get both players. It might take a defenseman and maybe a gritty player but it would be worth it if we could get both Monahan and Linholm.

You can make the argument that the Flames are lacking a lot of things for both directions. For me, the fact that Lindholm has a higher offensive ceiling is enough to take the slight edge.
|
I look at the pieces that the Flames already have to work with.
Our top 2 prospects are both small and very offensively talented.
IMO, the core is far better served to add a large, two way C.
(also consider Backlund)

Have you looked at his team mates? I'm amazed he even got as many points as he did.

What point are you trying to make? That the Sutter era had a phobia of drafting anyone that wasn't from NA?
You do realize that some of the best players in the world have come from other countries right? Just because past administrations for the Flames have avoided them like the plague, plenty of other teams have capitalized.
But sure, let's just pick the big Canadians regardless of what else can be had, what could possibly go wrong.

Has to be Monahan...
Baertschi is our Kane
2 Kanes are not near as good as Toews and Kane

Look at all the players traded off his team this year, and consider that the next best guy on the team is 15 years old. He basically doing everything himself on that team.

Comparing Baertschi, never mind Lindholm, to Kane, is ridiculous.

He drafted from everywhere. He got NHLers out of big bodies from the CHL. I think, you don't take a risk, you pick the next forward or defender from North America. Nurse and Monahan are the guys. I'd say, based on who managed to make the bigs out of our system we should go with one of them.

We need to replace a dynamic high scoring forward that will put butts in the seats. That sounds more like the slick Swede than the two way Canadian. I'd take Lindholm and then supplement that pick with a big two way center that has second or third line potential. I think Gauthier or Horvat or Rychel fits that bill. We have three picks so aim high and pick the best potential scorer with the first pick.

I actually see Carolina taking Ristolainen, Nurse or trading the pick for defensive help.
They are a team that looks to be in win now mode, and are not afraid of reaching a little.
