So Edmonton has, like, a standing invite to the lottery unveiling? They've probably got their favourite chairs and everything.

At least he better be, because you know the Oilers are likely going to take the one that we don't. I really don't want us to be wrong now of all times.

That seems odd to me.
Either use the pick, or trade it for somebody who can play now.
Don't trade it for lesser picks that will take another 5 years to develop.
But as a Flames fan, roll on, Craig.

At the end, Kevin Lowe stands up with the 'winning' GM and puts the coveted Blue and Copper jacket on them.

I'd be cool with Feaster moving the 2 later picks for a pick as high as this one!!
Get both Lindholm and Monahan 😎
I think the Flames would have to add a little to the deal, though

I think I would talk to Carolina about taking the St. Louis pick plus a roster player for #5 or #6.
They are a team that needs to get into the playoffs and not rebuild.

And Langkow was picked before Iginla, but who would you rather have? The center or the winger?
Just because many of the top centers were picked in the top 10 ≠ mean that a center picked in the top 10 will be a top center. A good player in any position is better than a bad center. Just like I'll concede it's harder to get a center than a winger you need to concede that. So all things equal, lean towards a center. Otherwise go for the best player.

I think Oleg Saprykin was also drafted as a C in his draft year, to add to your list.

Craig Button compares Ryan Pulock (should be pronounced pall-lick, not POO-lock, Craig!) to Al MacInnis in this video. Obviously some posters here hate the concept of these comparables, but have a look at a few clips of Pulock and his slap shot and tell me what you see.
CB's take on Seth Jones & POO-lock

Strange that they're working for me. Tablet compatibility or something?
Please let me know if it's still not working.

Monahan is the really likely pick for us at 6 overall. It's kind of a crapshoot as to who will be available and what the Flames will want with the last 2 first rounders. They draft heavily from the WHL or leagues that feed into the NCAA, they also tend to shy away from European players with their picks but aren't completely afraid to grab a Euro (Granlund).
Pulock, Morrisey, Petan, Lazar, Compher, Hurley etc. are players that seem to fit the mold of what the Flames look for.

Perhaps one of our many goalie prospects? Rights to UFA Leland Irving? Oil King Laurent Brossoit might be someone they're interested in. Good prospect.
I'd use the picks on a C & a D

Unless Columbus gets involved they aren't going to get a better deal for picks than those two picks. Basically it comes down to how they value the 2nd pick. They might be able to get a higher 1st pick than ours (St.Louis) but the other pick(s) wouldn't beat Pittsburgh's 1st.

I'm no expert but for some reason Monahan reminds me of Chuck Kobasew. Plus I have a strong hunch that Lindholm will turn out to be a defenseman and Sweden produces great prospects in that position.

Maybe I'm missing something, but you think Lindholm will be converted?
