Don't think Barkov will be available when the Flames pick. I will be happy with either Lindholm or Monahan. Would be nice to follow that pick with Lazar or Domi and round out the first round with a defenseman like Ryan Pulock.

I don't see how Nashville doesn't take Barkov or another forward. They need scoring.

What about Lindholm and then packaging to try to move up and take Ristolainen or Zadarov?

OK, now that we're out of the top four I'll be one of the few that throws my full support behind drafting the Russian. However, I will not be upset with any of Nurse/Lindholm/Monohan either. Will be a good day no matter what happens with the first pick.

First round of Lindholm/Monahan, Pulock/Morrissey & Compher/Gauthier would be legendary

I feel like Nichushkin is going to drop significantly in wake of his apparent performance at the U18 Tournament which are further exacerbating the stereotypical concerns about him. He is going to scare a lot of teams away.

Fine with 6th. It's the 3 picks that's most important.
If you haven't done so, look back at the 2003 draft, which this one is being compared to. Players picked at 7, 11 ,13, 17, 19, 23, 24, and 28 are better than 3, 4, or 6.

We have a 6.2% chance to win the lottery, 76.8% chance to keep the sixth pick and a 17% chance someone behind us wins the lottery and we drop to the seventh pick. So chances are we are going to have a repeat of 92, 97 or 98. If that is the case hopefully this doesn't end up being another freaking fata!

4th place looks like a sweet spot, you get whatever top 4 is not picked, and 2 other good options. too bad the flames were better than that.

The panthers getting the best prospect since crosby (allegedly) bothers me.

Should be fairly easy to trade up with Carolina if the guy the Flames want is still on the board. Actually looks like the easiest team to swap spots with. Maybe Yzerman has a big need for a D man and makes their spot tradeable as well. especially if they know they can grab a guy like nurse at 6.

In the previous 5 drafts the teams below us have had the following picks in the top 5:
Colorado: 3rd, 2nd
Florida: 3rd, 3rd
Tampa: 1st, 2nd
There really should be some sort of lottery penalty for sucking so hard after drafting top players in recent drafts.

St Louis pick is 23 or 27 to 30. I wonder is Nishkunin will fall that far? Probably not as columbus' 1st from the rangers will be higher or Detroit will take him with their pick.

If management talks to Nichushkin and feels there isn't any flight risk and he would be happy to be drafted by the flames, then I would be happy if they drafted him.
That's just me though.

Watching the Canes today, i'm sure they'll take Nurse. Horrid, horrid defense.

I think the biggest slide down the draft ladder was alexei cherapanov. The russian factor dropped him to 17th where the rangers took him. Cannot imagine he slides that far down the ladder.

Also..
Recent history of 6th overall selection:
2012: Hampus Lindholm
2011: Mika Zibanejad
2010: Brett Connolly
2009: Oliver Ekman-Larsson
2008: Nikita Filatov
2007: Sam Gagner
2006: Derrick Brassard
2005: Gilbert Brule
2004: Al Montoya
2003: Milan Michalek
2002: Scottie Upshall
2001: Mikko Koivu
2000: Scott Hartnell
1999: Brian Finley
1998: Rico Fata
Surprisingly, a list that doesn't wow you too much overall. There actually were more outstanding picks made at 5 and 7 over this span of time. But hopefully, if this draft really is a 2003 comparable, we land a true long time talent regardless.

Yeah, where he ends up is going to depend on how those meetings go. He really could go between #4-15 depending on what kind of impression he leaves on the teams interviewing him.
